    The Space:

    Cookswood is an exclusive gated 450 acre private estate set in the heart of the Somerset countryside, surrounded by ancient woodlands. This bespoke holiday home is both elegant and luxurious offering a haven for those seeking the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure and timeless luxury. This peaceful retreat enables you to embrace wellness and outdoor living with unspoilt nature right on your doorstep.



    The interiors of the house have been thoughtfully designed with a blend of French and English vintage alongside contemporary furnishings, high-end Smeg kitchen appliances, and a curated contemporary art collection.

    A spacious, open-plan upstairs living area with an 8-metre ceiling features Soho Home fixtures and

    bespoke handcrafted lighting, offering sweeping meadow views and a natural cliff backdrop, all styled to the highest standard. In the master suite, a freestanding bath opens onto the private balcony with garden views.



    Enjoy all-day sun and make the most of every moment in the garden, which features two outdoor seating areas (sofa and dining) surrounded by beautiful roses. An outdoor dog wash paw wash brush set and designated waste bin completes this thoughtfully designed countryside retreat. The garden is fully enclosed.



    Guests staying at the property also have access to the Cookswood Estate Mineral Lake, which is fed by natural local spring water. During the summer months, the water takes on a beautiful turquoise hue, creating a peaceful and rejuvenating setting. The lake is perfect for wild swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy nature in a private and tranquil environment.

    Please note that the lake is owned, managed, and operated by Cookswood Estate, and we have no control over its operation or maintenance. Safety rules must be followed at all times when using the lake. These will be available within the property and in the guest house guide.



    We welcome a maximum of two, small to medium, well behaved dogs. Charges apply per dog.

    The Stag cafe located on the Cookswood estate serves light bites and is open daily.

    The Neighborhood:

    Fawning Meadow is nestled deep in the Somerset countryside. Perched on the shores of this unique mineral lake there is plenty to see and do. With Holcombe Farm shop and Cafe just a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk, you can pick up supplies and also stay for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Why not venture to the near by historic market towns of Wells with the famous Wells Cathedral or Frome with its abundance of independent shops, cafes and famous for its artisan market (1st Sunday of every month). Babington House, The Newt, Hauser & Wirth, and Michelin-starred Osip in Bruton, often referred to as 'the UK’s Montecito' are only a short drive away. Enjoy the quintessential Somerset village of Mells, named by Conde Nast as one of the 20 most beautiful villages in the UK, and in particular the 15th-century Talbot Inn, The world heritage city of Bath is only a 30 minute drive where you can experience Georgian grandure with the world famous Abbey, Roman Baths as well as the Thermae Spa. Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge are a short drive and well worth a visit. There really is plenty to see and do for everyone!



    Getting Around:

    Approximately 3 minutes drive from the nearest village of Stoke St Michael, you can find a local convenience store and local bus services to Wells and Bath. The nearest train stations are Castle Cary & Frome (both 20 minutes drive) or Bath Spa (approximately 30 minutes drive) with direct links to London and Bristol. For those arriving by air, Bristol Airport (BRS) is approximately a 40-minute drive away.

    We welcome dogs - a maximum of two small to medium, well behaved dogs. Please keep them downstairs and off the furniture. Charges apply. Please contact us to let us know how we can help you.



    This property is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Please respect our neighbours - our quiet times are between 9pm - 8am. Early check ins and late check outs can be arranged subject to availability - Charges will apply.
