Balch Hotel

Balch Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"In a word, Sumptuous. This was my last night of a 34 day trip from Oregon to Denali park and back via the Klondike highway. I stayed in such a variety of lodgings.. but Balch was the capstone! Historic building perfectly maintained. Elegant appointments, preserving (perhaps significantly improving?) the historic grandeur of the original venue. Things to love: -Fabulous antique building & grounds, full of antiques and beautiful art and local photography. -Cost was magnificent. For the same price you can stay in The Dalles next to the freeway in a Super 8.. Drive 20 mins to Dufur! -Quirky, tiny town setting that is very walkable and delightfully rural. Living history of wheat farming for the last century is on display one block away. -Clean, fabulous room. Small; made for sleeping, with a tiny sink and mirror. Washrooms are shared with other rooms, down the hall. -Local restaurant/bar is across the street for dinner. Perfect pub food. -magnificent "basket" of breakfast is complimentary: grapes, yogurt, granola, fresh berries, fresh muffin, hard boiled egg, fine coffee/tea etc.. -clientele was quiet, intellectually interesting and delightful at Breakfast. #1 - I slept so well here! Things to know: -no elevator. Main floor has stairs to enter, and is super spacious with parlor & living room and dining rooms. -rooms are upstairs, and the other half are up a second flight of stairs. If your knees are troubled, pack in only what you'll need for the night!"

"This is a great house on right on the Deschutes river! The house was very clean and stocked with what we needed. The Imperial RV park is two hundred yards away so it was perfect for our family gathering for family that was staying in their RV's to come over and hang out on the deck right over the river. The Riverside and Oasis are across the street. amazing spot, we will be back!!!"

8 Mile Farm B&B

8 Mile Farm B&B

10/10 Excellent
"This was a sweet B&B with a lot of thoughtful touches. They have chickens, goats and cows that you can visit. My friend and I enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at the feeder. If you forget something, there are several thoughtful items in the bathroom. They have a coffee station and drug for guests to use as well as bottles of wine for purchase and use of wine glasses, yoga equipment, books, games, blankets. We truly enjoyed our hosts and our stay. Breakfast was wonderful as well!"

Pine Hollow Lakehouse Retreat

Pine Hollow Lakehouse Retreat

10/10 Excellent
"The house was better than expected. Super clean, quiet, large deck (with visiting deer), and well equipped with just about everything you need. Lake is just across the road, but well away from the RV/tent park and all the noise that can happen there.I would have liked reading lamps in the master bedroom, but not a deal killer.Looking forward to visiting again sometime."
