Salutations! Our treasured home in the hamlet of Phoenicia can be described as “Mid-Century Precious” meets quaint, cozy, quirky, and comfy. This adorable gabled gem, a historic Catskills worker’s home from the early 20th century and tucked in at the base of Tremper Mountain and Sheridan Mountain is the perfect retreat to ruminate, muse, and unwind in the natural splendor of the Catskills. Whether you’re a creative or adventurous type, Catskills Yorba is centrally located to a myriad of outdoor activites encompassing all four seasons! Or if you are more of a creative intellectual type, choose to immerse yourself in the many art venues and historical sites.
Upon arrival, be lulled to sleep and wake up to the babbling of Stony Clove Creek which is right across the street. Sit on our front porch, with a cup of steaming hot joe whilst watching locals drive by on historic route 214 and delight at the majesty of a bald eagle as it lands on trees mere yards from our abode as they survey the creek for fish and small woodland creatures.
Perhaps after an early morning hike, return to make a breakfast with fresh country eggs you bought in Mt.Tremper or Fleischmans, take your computer onto the back deck to work or be inspired - yes we have wi-fi that extends outside - and converse with the myriad of winged friends. Amateur ornithologists, use one of our binoculars to bird-watch different species as they flit about the trees. There is a coal burning barbecue if you feel like eating in and enjoying the respite of daily life or seek out the many eateries that pepper the Catskills.
My office that can serve as an extra room for those scribes, such as myself, who might be inspired in the middle of the night.
We have a woodburning stove to curl up in on those crisp Catskill temps and we also have 5! Yes 5 Split-duct air-conditioners to battle those steamier humid days of summer. Because this is our home, we are constantly trying to improve upon and are aware of anything that might be amiss as we love to spend time here as much as you will. Everything inside our home is treasured and we want you to love and respect it as much as we do. This is a no shoes, no smoking, no pets household to preserve the cleanliness that we and you will value.
We welcome you to our home, and hope that you treasure and honor our home as if it were yours and wanted others to treat your home.
