The Colony Hotel

"I like the location and the beautiful ocean views. I also like the fresh seafood in the nearby restaurants. I don’t like the services. At check in, the representative told us wrong room number. Since we couldn’t open the room door, we walked back and forth twice between the main building and the Coveside building to “fix the key”. Finally they figured out the room number was wrong! Totally We spent 1 hour on check in. This is my worst check in experience EVER. On day 2, the cleaning lady took away some towels, but without sending us new towels. We called the front desk and were promised that someone will send us towels soon. After waiting for 2 hours, we had to go to the main building to take back towels by ourselves. We think some workers either don’t like their job or don’t care about customers."

"We were in Wells for son’s wedding at Laudholm Farm. This was conveniently near by it was easy for us to go back and forth. As we had lived in Wells for years before finding our way around was easy. Only regret we didn’t have much time at the house. House was clean, plenty of parking and family friendly. Host very helpful."

"The Beach House Inn is a very nice property in a terrific location. We chose a lower priced room, so looked out onto the parking lot. Overall, our stay was great and we really enjoyed it. There were only two detractors and they're here for information; not to prevent anyone from choosing this property. It's an older building and the walls are quite thin. We were privy to the conversation of our next door neighbors (and they were just speaking to each other in a normal tone; not being loud). Also, although our bathroom had great water pressure and toiletries (love these), there was zero counter space. So the only place to put my clothes while I showered, my makeup, and my curling iron was the closed toilet seat. I know there's nothing they can do about the size of the bathrooms in these smaller rooms -- but no counter space is really inconvenient when trying to get ready for the day -- at least for me."

"Clean rooms; can't beat the price for a long holday weekend. No shampoo or hair dryer but not needed for a beach day! Very simple motel rooms, new owners have put sone money into infrastruture which is good for an old motel. Beds ok. Pool was great! Staff friendly and accommodating. Nice stay!"

"Very clean, and such a great location and views. Loved having Adirondack chairs and fire pit, but forgot mosquito spray (a must!). Nice touch was a bottle of wine waiting in fridge upon arrival. VERY comfortable bed and a king! Found myself wishing for a more comfortable place in living room to lounge. Wonderful and cute space and would 100% stay again."

"The house is super cute and bright. Amazing to sit out on the deck and watch the tide come in and out. Great for a family with small kids, but limited outdoor space./no grass. 10 or so minute walk down to the main beach, but the parking pass was included was so helpful. Host was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend."

"We had a really great time staying at this property. The outdoor space with pool, fire pit and deck was fantastic and the main highlight of this rental! My only criticism is with the finishes of the place and the layout. We had a very large group including kids and dogs, and there was plenty of sleeping space and bathrooms for everyone, however, the spaces to congregate inside felt too compartmentalized. We didn't even use the front main living room space b/c it was abnormally hot in there (the AC units weren't cooling down this room), and it felt very removed from the flow of traffic. The quality of the renovations is also a mixed bag, but it's clear this property is rented often and a lot of thought has been given on the guest experience. There was plenty of parking for 6 cars, and we made great memories in the space, so thank you!!"
Large Kennebunk Home, Walk to Beach < 2 Mi to Town

"This home was perfect for our 90th birthday celebration for my mother with 16 of us in 4 generations. The layout could not have been better. The spacious kitchen and prep kitchen behind it were terrific and well-appointed, there was plenty of dining space for everyone and plenty of places to hang out together or in smaller groups. The house was very quiet too - mostly because of its size, I'm sure. Two special things about the house are the beautiful wide porch which was always shaded, usually with a gentle breeze, which my mother enjoyed everyday - and the fact that it's a short, easy walk to the beach - no need to search for a rare parking spot. Plenty of space for the kids to play outside safely in sight of the adults enjoying the porch. The house was stocked with games, beach towels and basically everything we needed (we did bring our own coffee grinder but that was it - there was ground coffee available there). My mother's journal entry when I brought her back home was "I had a magical time with the family." Magical is the right word - everything was wonderful."
