Escape the hustle and bustle and head straight for the secluded Pangka Beach, a peaceful nirvana.
Nestled in the southwest corner of Koh Samui, this beach and surrounding bay are where dreams of romantic getaways are made. Situated on the other side of the island, this laid-back area feels a million miles away from the north and east coasts’ lively nightlife and tourist attractions. As a result, there isn’t much in the way of activities, with the village catering essentially to its own locals.Should you decide to stay in the area, there are plenty of resorts lining the beachfront that are suitable for all budgets. You’ll find that some of the better resorts include beach activities in their prices and offer their guests a range of watersports.Lounging on the beach or by the pool is a favourite pastime in Pangka. If you tire of sunbathing, take a trip to the nearby temples tucked away in the hills. Or if you’re looking for something to keep the kids occupied, pay a visit to the Samui Snake Farm, a popular family attraction just behind Pangka, and spend a half-day with some giant pythons and king cobras in this small reptile zoo.Hop on a boat and explore the islands of Koh Mudsum and Koh Tan, or head over to the picturesque fishing village of nearby Thong Krut Bay, where you can enjoy a spot of snorkelling and scuba diving. There isn’t much to be said for the nightlife here since most visitors to Pangka Beach are more partial to a relaxing evening at home. Pangka is, however, renowned for its magical sunset views so sit back and feast your eyes on the stunning Thai sky with a tropical cocktail in hand.Pangka is easily accessible, located just 20 minutes south of Samui International Port and approximately one hour from Koh Samui’s airport.
