"We had a lovely stay it was very clean and everything you needed apart from a gas cooker. Beatrice was lovely and very welcoming the only thing we was a little uncomfortable with was we felt we was living with her as she was next door and her balcony was right next to ours. It was more a guest room than an apartment with her being next to us. We couldn't relax thinking tv might be to loud, or music not that we have it on loud but we was still worried. "The owners don't communicate. Place was not cleanwith lots of things broken, including, shower, toilet and taps and door and steps up to it. Mold all over. Smelt terrible. Not vaguely as described. "Ruthin Castle has so much character and charm. We love the rustic feel, the fascinating history, and the unique atmosphere that makes it feel unlike anywhere else we've stayed. This visit we stayed in the Prince of Wales Suite, and it was fantastic. It felt incredibly grand and prestigious, making our stay even more special. The staff deserve a special mention too. Every member of the team we encountered was friendly, welcoming, attentive and genuinely helpful, which really adds to the whole experience. If I could suggest just one improvement, it would be for the maintenance team to focus on some of the smaller cosmetic details. The hotel certainly doesn't need a full renovation, as its age and character are part of its appeal, but touching up areas with peeling or chipped paint would make a noticeable difference. They're quick wins that would help keep the castle looking at its very best while preserving its historic charm. Overall, we had another wonderful stay and are already looking forward to returning. If you're looking for a hotel with history, character, a unique atmosphere and excellent staff, Ruthin Castle is a fantastic place to stay."

"We arrived to find the room we had booked on the first floor had been trashed the night before and the only available room was on the second floor . The problem for us was my husband is recovering from hospital so the extra stairs didn't help. That said the staff were amazing and did all they could to help us and although it was a smaller room it was lovely. We had several meals in the hotel which were very good and would recommend The White Lion Royal."
