We are glad that you appreciated the backyard and view while you were at our house by the sea. Also, that you thought our house was described well in our listing. It is unfortunate that the weather was not the best during your stay. That, combined with the fact that our house is built next to a cliff (as you can see in our listing photos), does mean that the house will receive salty ocean spray on windy days. For this reason, we have hoses available on both lanais. A quick spray from a hose and the windows will be clear of the salt spray for hours. We are not sure what was in our rental agreement that you seem to have taken an issue with. Renters are asked to read through the rental contract before booking and we also send another one via email for signing after booking is confirmed. Renters therefore have two opportunities to read our contract. We have emailed you for clarification but have not received a response as yet. It is certainly something we will look in to.

Aloha Randy, Thank you for saying out house by the sea was the 'best location of anyplace we have stayed". We do our best to make sure that everything is in order and that you enjoy your time in our home. It is interesting that you found an odor in the indoor garbage bins and in the disposal. We were the guests prior to your arrival and we did not use the garbage disposal nor did we put any food, or containers that had food in them, into the bins. We appreciate that you have brought this to our attention however and we have asked our caretaker to look into it.

Aloha Allison, Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our house by the sea. I'm confused about some items you mentioned in your review. There is a complete set of knives in the knife block on the counter and there are more located in a drawer by the silverware as well as a knife sharpener. We have an ice maker in the freezer door of the refrigerator so you should not have had to make ice manually. Not sure where to place additional furniture in the upstairs living room as it would block the fabulous view of the ocean. Same with adding a TV in that room. There is no where it can go without blocking the view. There is the large mounted TV with streamed channels in the downstairs living room for that purpose and another smaller TV in the upstairs master (also streaming). I'm not sure what happened to the salt and pepper as those are ones that we keep on hand. However, spices, in tropical locations, do not last as the moisture ruins them. Also, everyone has different tastes so it would be hard to maintain a spice cabinet. As the pictures in our listing demonstrate, our house is located right on the ocean. It gives you better access to trade winds which help cool the house (as well as the ceiling and floor fans) when you open windows for cross ventilation. When you open the windows you will be hearing the waves there is no getting around that when you live so close to the ocean. We do want our guests to have the best experience possible. Aloha Ilona, So glad to hear that you enjoyed your time in our house by the sea. We do our best to ensure that you have a pleasant stay while in our home. The need for another broom or electric sweeper has been noted and thank you for bringing that to our attention. While Hawaii is a popular vacation destination it does not have a lot of roads/highways to chose from when driving around the island. When I call every renter I do make a point of letting them know that there is one highway between Hilo and Pahoa and traffic can be backed up at times, especially during rush hour. Unfortunately, Hawaii like other towns and cities in the United States has to deal with traffic and that is something that we have no control over. Traffic, unfortunately, is something that you just can't get away from. Thank you for your favorable review and we hope that we see you again in the future!

Aloha Mark, So glad you enjoyed your stay in our house by the sea. There are times, if it has been really rainy, where the house can get a little “sticky.” Using the ceiling and floor fans will help to dry everything out. The solar panels for the hot water will not work very well during extended periods of rain and clouds. Heavy rain can sometimes trip the breaker to our electric back up. It’s just a matter of flipping a switch. Sorry about your cool showers but had you let me know I would have had the problem fixed quickly. We hope to see you again in the future. Jennifer
