"Noisy in the very early hours of the morning. People snoring in the other rooms or even moving in the bed was disturbing and squeaky. Was only using it for a very few hours to sleep but it didn't serve the purpose. The landlady is very nice but being nice doesn't mean you get what you need as a basic place to rest"

"Affordably good quality accommodation with fabulous service. From the initial welcome to the time we departed and throughout the stay, we received the most professional, efficient, polite and friendly service from everyone of the hotel’s team we encountered, with special mention to the awesome Simon. The affordable rooms within this historic building are clean and functional; above all, they are very clean and comfortable with modern facilities like free-view television and reliable hotel Wi-Fi. The bed was comfy with crisp linen atop good duvet and pillows all of which aided a good nights sleep (some rooms might be noisy given the proximity to a reasonably busy road). The en-suite bathroom was also spotlessly clean with good water pressure to the shower and soft towels, complemented by some small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The free breakfast was adequate and welcome, with a basic hot and cold self service buffet selection The hotel is located on the edge of the town centre of Halifax just a ten-minute walk from the railway station and even less of an amble from the bus station, and the same distance to the Peace Hall, also very close to the town's retail and leisure attractions. A good value for money friendly hotel in a good location, I can highly recommend. The hotel has new owners and management."

"Plenty of parking and situated in a beautiful spot. The property looks lovely and rooms are comfortable enough. Breakfast is not included, so be prepared to pay for your breakfast. Food is provided in the pub, The Dog and Gun. The staff are friendly, but that is where the positive experience stops. My husband and I ate in the pub on our first night then he spend all night and the next day in the bathroom, ill. The second night I had to send back 2 meals for different reasons. Breakfast is either toast or a cooked breakfast, and only available between 8am and 9am, so is quite limited "

"We had a wonderful stay for our daughter's wedding. Everything was perfect for our family and bridesmaids who stayed. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and there was sufficient relaxing space downstairs by the open kitchen and dining area. The views from the house are stunning and it is easy to go out on country walks. The bathrooms were on each floor and all was of a very good quality. We would highly recommend the house."

"Pros: it was across the street from a little corner store. The beds were very comfortable. It was as the listing described and the yard was huge and fully fenced. Would have been a great place to bring a dog. Cons: the communication wasn't the best. We had to message and call numerous times before we were given the instructions to get into the house.We discovered later at night that there was no toilet paper other than a quarter roll, no dishcloths (just a scrubby brush), and some of the dishes were put away dirty. Some of the counters needed a good wipe down as well. There wasn't enough bedding for one of our party to sleep on the pullout futon and when we went to do laundry, it was full of wet towels. I don't know how long they had been sitting in there so we ended up re-washing them, drying and folding them.To be fair I didnt attempt to reach out during our stay to complain as we had already gone to the little corner store to get toilet paper and dish clothes but when I did send a private message upon checkout to give her a heads up in case she wasn't the one who maintains the place, I never got a reply. "

The hosts were welcoming and friendly, they made us feel very at home and were very attentive throughout our time. Great location and a short 5 minute drive to Haworth. "A little gem. Beautiful decor and finished to a high standard. Extremely clean and lovely little touches in the room such as chocolates and tea making facilities . Nearby to centre and walking distance to Piece Hall. Will definitely book again if coming to stay in Halifax. "
