9/10 Wonderful! (1,003 reviews)
I loved the staff. Magdelena, Patricia and Daniellia were so helpful, warm and welcoming. They helped me with any issues that arose and made me feel welcome and safe. As a solo female traveler, this is very important and I felt very safe and taken care of. The breakfasts were wonderful with delicious fresh food and I loved the lamb soup and bread for dinner. The cleaning staff made sure my room was very clean and I had a really nice view from my room. The location is great for a hub if you’re doing a lot of driving as the highways are very close. Not the greatest walking or sightseeing area though. I will stay again.

9.2/10 Wonderful! (384 reviews)
The location was excellent in that it was very central. They failed to say that that they were next too two very loud bars They also failed to mention that they adopted a stray cat s their mascot that regularly lived in the lobby. As I am HIGHLY allergic to cat dander, I did NOT appreciate this.
I had asked for a quiet double room and was given a twin bedroom next to the elevator and over the bar and spent 2 sleepless nights. I then left the hotel for 4 nights to seek refuge with a friend up north and was re assigned to a quiet double in the back which I appreciated
I am not too sure on the housekeeping which failed to replenish my coffee capsules unless it is the hotel policy to only comp you two free capsules on a 12 night stay.
The location was brilliant and I only wish they were more upfront of their building problems and mascots giving me an opportunity to book elsewhere.
So on transparency a 0 and on location a 4, overall a 3

9.8/10 Exceptional! (571 reviews)
We really enjoyed our stay at the Black Pearl. We came in very early in the morning and reception staff escorted us immediately to our apartment, explaining its features clearly. It is quiet and extremely clean, and like all of Reykjavik, very safe for tourists. It is located a short walk from excellent restaurants, coffee shops, a great art museum, and the harbor front. I'd say it was about a 5-7 minute walk to the middle of downtown. It's also a quick walk to the pick up points for day tours as well (Bus Stop 4 and 15 are particularly close, but Bus Stop 5 is also close.) Kitchen is well-stocked with sharp knives, pans, and other stuff for cooking and serving meals, should you want a break from restaurant cuisine. Balcony does not overlook water but is a pleasant space for lingering over drinks. We'll book this again on our next trip to Iceland.

"The hotel is new and clean, it is centrally located in Mývatn. Some minor points, there is only one chair in the room (quite weird) and one hook in the toilet (that you don’t know how to put your clothes when showering)."
