In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, travelling now comes with more challenges. Make a note of these valuable tips before hopping on your plane to Norfolk Island National Park:

• Find out what rules and restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so be sure to check before you lock in your flight.
• When you pass through airport checkpoints, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to briefly lower it for ID purposes. Those who refuse to wear a mask may be denied entry or boarding.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position the pass on the reader and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on bag. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to take it out of your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• To minimize handling during screening, put items such as your phone, coins and keys into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA employee will need to open your bag for inspection.
