The best area to stay in Nordstrand is Süderhafen, the main port and a central point on the peninsula.

Süderhafen is the heart of Nordstrand, offering a blend of local life and visitor amenities. It's where you'll find the ferry terminal for trips to the Hallig islands, several restaurants serving fresh seafood, and a few shops. The harbour itself is a pleasant place for a stroll, with views of fishing boats and the Wadden Sea. It's a convenient base for exploring the rest of the peninsula.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate Süderhafen. The area provides easy access to coastal walks and cycle paths, and there are several comfortable hotels and guesthouses. Evenings can be spent enjoying a meal with sea views or simply watching the sunset over the water.

Families often find the area around Elisabeth-Sophien-Koog to be a good fit. This more residential and quieter part of Nordstrand offers spacious holiday homes and is close to open green spaces. It's ideal for children to play, and the flatter terrain is excellent for cycling as a family.

The best time to visit Nordstrand is during the warmer months, specifically from May to September, when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities.

During these months, the temperatures are mild, and there's less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the area. You'll find the North Sea air invigorating, superb for long walks along the dykes or relaxing on the beach. This period also sees the most daylight hours, allowing for extended sightseeing and enjoying the local seafood restaurants.
