We were two couples staying 10 days in early November 2019 at the "Maison Linton" and enjoyed the house very much. The property owners, Jack and Mathilde, were quick in their email responses, and the property manager, Marie, who is Danish and speaks fluent English, was always available for questions. She met us when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour of the house with specific instructions for the convection oven, the washing machine, the TV etc... She also gave us recommendations for restaurants in town.
The house itself is some 500 years old and is full of character and charm. That being said, the staircases are narrow and steep and would not be ideal for people with mobility issues.
The tallest among us was 6'4" and had no problems with ceilings and beams. We especially enjoyed sitting on the terrace overlooking the gorge and the views to the sea in the distance. There are spectacular views from every room as well.
When you come in, you have the main living room, kitchen and dining room, and you go upstairs or downstairs for the bedrooms and bathrooms, all of which are very spacious and cozy.
We used Tourrettes as a base for exploring the region: Gourdon, St. Paul de Vence, Eze, Nice, Monaco, Villefranche/Cap Ferrat, Vence, Entrevaux, Gorges du Verdon, and Antibes. We parked in the main parking lot (free) just at the entrance to the town and walked to the house from there--about 15-20 minutes. The weather was amazingly clear and sunny for that time of year, and we took advantage of the many hiking trails that surround Tourrettes as well. Although quite a few restaurants in town were closed because we were there off-season, there were still many places to enjoy, and with no crowds!
One small note, and this may be due to the fact that we were probably one of the last guests before the house was closed down for the season: there was no supply of paper towels or toilet paper, and many of the light bulbs for the lamps were burned out and needed to be replaced. But again, this was probably due to the fact that we were there very late in the tourists season, and these were minor inconveniences.
In summary, I give this place five stars! It has everything you could possibly want: charm, convenience, modern comforts, beautiful surroundings and ideal hosts. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
