Search Napoleon Reef hotels

The best time to visit Napoleon Reef is during the Australian summer months, from December to February, when the water is warmest and marine life is most active.

During this period, the average water temperature hovers around a comfortable 26-28°C, making it ideal for snorkeling and diving. You'll find excellent visibility, often exceeding 20 metres, which allows for clear views of the coral formations and a wide variety of fish species. This is also when you're most likely to encounter larger pelagic species, as they tend to migrate through the area.

For those looking for a slightly quieter experience with still excellent conditions, the shoulder months of November and March offer a good balance. The water remains warm, and visibility is generally very good, but there are fewer visitors compared to the peak summer season.
