"This is such a great spot to get away or even just stay a night as you’re passing through. Second stay in the marina- Clean, roomy, family-friendly or a respite for one, it’s the easiest VRBO you’ll ever stay in from check in to check out. There’s not much more fun than feeding the ducks and watching their antics- always great for a smile and a laugh. Teresa and team are phenomenal and the positive atmosphere can’t be beat. I was working but brought my husband this time so he could fish. He thoroughly enjoyed it. Only drawback whatsoever, and 100% out of their hands, is the noise from the nearby highway. But just bring earplugs and/or headphones and it’s totally worth it."

"The host and staff were very friendly as well as pet friendly. I enjoyed watching the ducks. The food at the Quack Shack is delicious. This is definitely a great place for boating and fishing and there's a state park beach for swimming only 15 minutes away. The only slight issue I had was the smell of the RV sewage from the RV parked next to the cabin. It wasn't constant but at certain times of the day it was pretty strong. Cabin 2 is the only one with an RV spot right next to it."

"We enjoyed a four night stay at Pleasant Place for a short getaway to rest with our dog Lucy. Pleasant Place was just just as described- a pleasant place. The host was prompt in confirming the reservation, communicating details and having the house and property in tip top condition. She provided clear and helpful directions and the house, pond and property were relaxing as if you had the world to yourself. Just a short 10 minute drive into Canton for meals and stuff. I suggest getting a whole chocolate pie from Brothers Cafe to take back to Pleasant Place to enjoy a little each day and you can walk/hike around the property to handle the extra calories. You can get a mile in easy by just walking the gravel drive from the house, by the pond , to the property entrance and back. Then I would suggest cooling off on the wonderful deck around the house with delightful views of the pond, fields or the cows nearby. It was our dog Lucy's first time encountering a cow and she was quite curious with these big black creatures on the other side of the fence. Oddly, I never heard a moo during our stay, of course, it was August in Texas with each day in 100 heat. So the cows may have been too hot to waste the energy. By the way, the HVAC system was wonderful and the cabin retained its comfortable temperature both day and night. And the night views of the sky and stars were wonderful- deep in the heart of Texas away from any light pollution."
