MUSKOKA'S BEST KEPT SECRET - SKELETON LAKE

We are happy to offer our two bedroom cottage on popular Skeleton Lake. Known as Muskoka's Best Kept Secret, Skeleton Lake is best known for its crystal clear waters, sandy swimming coves, great fishing, water sports, hiking and beautiful summer sunsets. Our cozy cottage is located at the end of a quiet bay and has beautiful views of the islands. With a similar feel to our popular Skeleton Lake Boathouse( VRBO 470888) which is across the bay, our 650 square foot two bedroom cozy cottage is cozily decorated and has an additional 200 square foot covered side porch. Our living room has a flat screen satellite tv, wifi, a pull out sofa and our kitchen offers upgraded appliances including fridge. microwave cooktop and dishwasher. Four kayaks, a canoe and two paddle boards can be found at the private sandy shore line where you can swim or paddle in the quiet bay. This property is rented from Friday to Friday. This cottage is located approximately 20 - 25 minutes to Rosseau or Huntsville where you can dine and explore all of the quaint shops and summer time markets. Please note that seasonal rentals both spring and fall are a minimum of 3 nights. High season which is the last week in June to labor day weekend is a 1 week minimum rental period. The cottage is set up to accommodate two couples or a small family of 2 children. Additional cost will apply for additional people at $75.00 per person per night for a maximum of 6 persons. Please ensure the rental agreement form is filled out and returned in order to confirm your reservation. The cancellation policy is outlined on the agreement. The rental agreement is found under the house rules section of the web site.

Skeleton Lake cottage vacation

we really enjoyed the cottage and the lakefront property. it had everything we needed and came as advertised. Lorie and Steve were great to deal with and very helpful. we do recommend a 4 wheel drive suv to get up and down (we did have one) to the cottage.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage and are planning to return next year. The cottage was exactly as described and the check in process was super smooth. If traveling with littles I’d recommend bringing board games and some toys. We did bring a bunch which I was grateful for. That was the only thing that the cottage lacked but it made up for it with its fabulous waterfront and all the water toys floaties. The cottage had everything else you could/would need or want. The owners were nice enough to take us out on their boat for a tour of the lake, which was so clear and clean. It was amazing and my kids favourite part of our week. Dealing with Lorrie was lovely, and I couldn’t recommend this cottage enough. 10/10!

1st week of summer

They have everything you need on site which we really appreciated. Satellite tv, fire wood, bbq with extra tank, towels, paddle boards, canoe and kayaks all available at no extra cost. Lots to do for the kids so that they dont get bored. It is exactly as advertised. Very clean and comfy cottage for 2 adults, 2 kids, and a dog. Owners and property manager were very very nice. Thank you!

Beautiful Cozy Getaway!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. Quiet, clear lake was beautiful to sit by. The cabin was very pretty and the deck outside was stunning. We ate dinner each night under the covered porch. Our dog loved the beach/sand entry into the water as well. Our gracious hosts/owners allowed us to use the next door dock since it wasn’t occupied. Lorrie was very attentive upon our arrival and responded quickly to a few questions asked. We saw so many woodpeckers and various birds, even a hummingbird! Very much looking to return! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Amazing Views and Beautiful Cottage

The cozy cottage exceeded all our expectations, it was beautiful, clean and the perfect retreat for our little family getaway to see the fall colours. The lake views were amazing. Lots of great outdoor spots to sit and enjoy nature, have a bon fire or enjoy a canoe ride on the lake. Inside was cozy, modern and well cared for.

Blue Heron Cozy Cottage

Beautiful, comfortable cottage with high-end furnishings. Fantastic deck overlooking beautiful, clear Skeleton Lake. Covered outdoor eating area was very convenient on a rainy day. Cottage is part of a large family compound with friendly hosts.

Slice of paradise!

We had a wonderful stay at The Blue Heron Cottage. The beach front was beyond perfect for our 3 year old and 10 mo old who enjoyed the shallow, sandy beach front (not weedy at all) and easy swim to floating dock. Lots of activity options! The indoor living space is small and cozy. On Rainy days we spent our time under the outdoor sitting area, which had plenty of coverage. End of August had minimal mosquitos, the water was still warm for swimming, mornings and evenings were chilly but the cottage is warm and the outdoor fire pit was always going :) Beds and living space are comfortable, internet worked well, Note - No oven but stovetop and all other kitchen needs are there. The cottage is located in a super private area, across from crown land. We really felt like we had our own space. We will definitely be booking again! Can't wait to come back! Thank you so much for an awesome stay :)

Stunning Cozy Getaway

Enjoyed the week with my wife along with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren. For the size of the cottage, the space was well utilized and the covered porch was outstanding. Property was beautiful, beach and water were great and lots of paddle boards, kayaks, canoe's and paddle boat for our use. Our other daughter and her family visited from the south west side of the lake. Steve and Jill visited one day and had a great chat. Definitely a strong consideration for a future visit but much suited for a couple of family of 4 but we made it work. Thanks for everything Lorrie

Excellent property, location and communication.

We had a terrific time at Steve and Jill's cottage. The location was idyllic and the cottage was cozy, clean and perfect for our family. We enjoyed use of the kayaks, paddle boards, canoe, and BBQ. Lorrie was an excellent communicator. Great proximity to both Huntsville and Rosseau. We so enjoyed an impromptu horn and flute recital on the next dock on a Monday morning in our little bay. What a delightful surprise!

Beautiful guest cabin

Nice guest cabin right on the water of a quiet bay with nice water and beach for swimming. Cabin is best for 4 people or less. Road in is fairly short but pretty rugged.

Stunning cottage

My husband and I had an amazing stay at the Blue Heron Cottage. It had gorgeous views, was super clean and peaceful. The water at Skeleton Lake is the best in Muskoka, so clear! The property manager was also a dream to deal with. We are definitely booking another stay. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Incredible location and such a beautiful clear lake for swimming and paddling of all sorts.

This is a beautiful spot to stay and would be a great couple’s get away in the fall. We went with another couple in the summer and the outside spaces, the covered (not screened) porch was where we ate, read, played cards and lived as well as the wrap around deck overlooking the lake was spectacular! The beds were new and comfortable and a beautiful bathroom and cute kitchen. Inside seating area would be small for 4 adults if it was rainy or cold, but the cottage is beautiful and well stocked. We had an amazing time there and will definitely be back. THe owners were close by and so friendly - there were kayaks and canoes and paddle boards. The bay is quite secluded and the night skies, awesome.

Amazing spot

We stayed at this cottage for a week. It is very new, high end and wonderfully appointed. Everything you could ask for. Skeleton Lake is a very clean, clear lake. This property has a great walk out sandy beach and is on a quiet bay. Highly recommended!
