MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND
The property is set in a beautiful setting a real country location. The fire bit is a great asset .The farm House itself is set up well for a couple or a group . Only 4 in our booking and we found it very relaying and comfortable. Only problem was we could not stay longer.

Perfect spot to get away from it all
The property is clean, spacious, beautiful and as advertised. Communication by the owners leading up to and after the stay was helpful, clear and ensured we checked in and out with ease. I would recommend travelling in a 4WD however it is not impossible to get to the property without it - just easier. It was lovely to have the complimentary Mudgee wine to enjoy and the property is very well equipped (the most equipped property I have ever stayed at) with cooking oil, salt and pepper, milk and other things provided. The only minor negative was that the main bathroom had a bad odour coming from the drain. This was experienced after heavy rainfall through the night so not sure if that was the reason. But like I said it was a minor negative as we kept the bathroom fan on and this helped keep the smell away. Overall would recommend to others.

Little piece of paradise in Mudgee
My family and I stayed with our dogs and had the most wonderful time. The property is only about 30 mins from Mudgee so very convenient but the peace and quiet was wonderful. The walks are lovely and the scenery is fabulous. The house is so well appointed - everything you need. The log fire is so inviting but to have air conditioning as well meant you were always toasty warm even when it was minus 3 degrees. For us being allowed to have our dogs (fur babies) with us and inside the house - following the rules of the house - was fantastic. The secure yard around the homestead allowed them to run and explore! We met our host Sally who couldn't do enough for us and made us feel so welcome. After all that has been happening lately having somewhere like "Old Bara Guesthouse" to stay was exactly what we needed. Thank you for a wonderful time and we shall be back.

Wonderful peaceful break with a very happy dog
Post Covid lockdown it was so great to get to Sally and Richard’s lovely farmhouse outside Mudgee. They were charming hosts, giving us lots of helpful information and their house is 500 metres up the road, so if there were problems it would be easy to get support. It was very cosy with the reverse cycled AC and my husband and adult son had fun playing with the wood fire heater. The fully fenced yard was reassuring with our golden retriever and when we opened the garden gate he took off running with great enthusiasm, an occasional look over his shoulder to check we were coming. With the gates and fences, he could only access some areas until we let him through. We didn’t let him through to the dam! The walks were lovely and each morning the mists in the valleys were picturesque. An extra tip we enjoyed was I’d emailed ahead to the ‘Mudgee catering company’ and so picked up some meals to heat up at night so we didn’t need to go out. We picked them up just outside Mudgee on the way. We had internet on our phones and there was free to air TV so we were able to keep in touch. We’ll be back!
