Everything about this stay was excellent. The Host was kind and attentive, checking in on us frequently to make sure we had all we need. The property was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed and more. View was splendid! We would definitely stay here again.
Very pleased with this little property. The place was clean and cute. It’s well appointed with all one needs. The view is amazing. The location is perfect for kayaking at the nearby Elkhorn Slough. Happy with this rental and would stay here again!
The property looks similar to the photos. The internet was very slow, and the checkout time was 10am, which is a bit challenging.Overall good experience but some places can be improved
I would encourage anyone visiting the Monterey, Santa Cruz area to make this booking. Daniel is very attentive and responsive. You will find that you are in the perfect spot to plan all activities and enjoy the area. Beaches, zip lining through the red woods, roller coaster over looking the ocean, etc. Daniel provides excellent recommendations and the drive up to the house was GORGEOUS. Very thankful for the week we spent here and the memories we created. GREAT PLACE !
The property met our needs for proximity to activities in area and safe place for our dog. It is very hilly and not conducive for walking our dog.
Light bulbs were burned out . Please add dish towels and a cutting board. The shower is very slippery , secure shower drain cover and fix paint and some general maintenance like broken lock pad and random nails sticking out need to be addressed.
Our hosts were very accommodating from the start with our request for slightly early check in. Sorry for the trouble 🙂. We found the place had many unexpected conveniences like updated appliances (washer/dryer, dishwasher, compactor, etc) and more than enough supplied linens, towels etc. than we ever needed for for our 1 week stay. Super clean and the bed was comfortable too. They’re many special touches by like live plants and decorations made it feel like home to us. So, just what we needed plus some nice surprises . Thank you folks for everything! Bob & Lynda
The property was at the top of a hill in a rural area north of Monterey. The location was perfect for me... away from the crowds, beautiful view from the patio and close to the wildlife I came to see (especially the Elkhorn Slough which is a must see for anyone interested in otters).
The only drawbacks were the parking situation (although that could just be because I am not good at backing up in tight spaces) and the guest house is in need of some sprucing up (stairs up to the second floor, floor between bed and bath and bathroom walls). But those things did not detract from my stay as I was not in the guest house that much.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a unique experience and proximity to the beach and the Elkhorn Slough.
I highly recommend the Power Plant for coffee, Tristan's Cookies for sweets and Lemongrass for Thai food all off Highway 1 in Moss Landing.
This is a beautiful location on top of a hill. Very quiet picturesque sunsets with hot tub on deck. Perfect location for visiting the many small farming towns around the area as well as getting to Monterey and Carmel. Lovely area and hosts.
The view of the Elkhorn Slough was amazing, along with the nibbling deer surrounded by the depths of the forest. Quiet, just north of Monterey Bay, it felt like a hidden retreat where nature takes center stage. Perfect for anyone seeking peace, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery.
The location is peaceful and there are so many sites to visit that are near by. We would recommend choosing this villa as a perfect getaway destination.

This place is not only one of the best place I’ve been but also flaunts a romantic peaceful ambiance and exudes a story of rich history, a soothing view above the clouds.. it’s just perfect!
Even though it rained for most of the time we stayed here, this unit was a perfect place to cozy up for a few days. Even with the clouds, we still had a great view. The kitchen is large, and they have lots of fuzzy blankets for curling up with a movie or a good book. We appreciated the recommendations for both places that were closer by and the places in Monterey and Carmel.

When I made the reservation, I was struck with 'too good to be true' based on the photos and price. Once we arrived, the price made a lot more sense. The host sent very clear instructions on how to get up to the apartment, which made arrival very easy for me. The apartment itself is very clean and well decorated with everything I would need for my 3-night stay, but certain parts of the apartment were a bit run down. The paint was drooping down in the bathroom walls, likely due to water damage. The bedroom window could not be closed all the way, and the front screen door was not fully sealed. The wifi was functional for checking emails and working in online documents, but not strong enough to handle video conference calls. All in all, I'm very happy with the rental. It met my needs, and while it's not a 5-star hotel, the location and views certainly made up for it. I would definitely consider coming back again.
you couldn't find a nicer family and a more relaxing spot with spectacular views. The driveway is daunting, and getting vehicle close to the apartment at the back building of the spectacular "Chalet" meant a scary backup when leaving, or parking in front of the big house and walking back, which was ok, unless you had heavy packages to carry. HotTub and views from the deck were unmatchable. lots of moths and cobwebs, but expected for the country setting on a hilltop.
Loved the look and feeling! Felt like I was right at home, with full access to the apartment features. Property owner was great with communicating with us before and during our stay. Will be returning for sure!
The bed, furnishings, kitchen equipment were all really nice. The view from the deck is beautiful. There are decent restaurants nearby. But there is not really any walking nearby. There is a county park which has some very sandy trails but beyond that you have to drive about a half hour to get to any appealing hikes.

Great trip with a couple minor inconveniences
This was a great little place, good kitchen space with a coffee pot, toaster, microwave, stove and fridge as well as some dishes and a dishwasher, so we were able to bring groceries and cook.
The bed was comfortable. The couch is a futon but it works. Everything seemed clean inside but there is major construction going on outside on the main house which made parking and getting in and out a little inconvenient, though not a big deal.
The internet is not super strong due to how far out/up in the hills the place is, but it was a nice place to stay for our 5 day trip.
I would message the owner in advance for the key code.
The porch is cute and has a great view!
It got a bit hot in the afternoons because there is no AC or fans, which is normal for the area. We closed curtains and opened the windows to get a breeze and it wasn't too bad, but a box fan or something may be nice as the summer goes on.
Overall good place, I would definitely stay there again!

Horrible
This was a terrible experience. I arrived NOT to a "remodel" of the house in the front, but a massive construction site and a driveway blocked with rubble-- it was a mess, no address, no way to know if I was in the right place (cell coverage is spotty). They claim the construction is only on the main house, but they are digging a trench in the back of the rental-- and when I got up to take a shower (it was 6:30) there were construction workers outside my window. And there's no window covering. Horrible! I left. VRBO is terribly unhelpful and while I think the property manager tried, he ultimately decided to gaslight me and accuse me of being in violation of their "noise policy"-- I went to bed at 10 and got up at 6 am. You have no window covering and people doing construction illegally prior to 8 am, but getting up at 6 am violates your "policy"? TALK ABOUT GASLIGHTING. OH, and I discovered on my second night that there were wet, dirty towels-- dozens of them-- stuffed in the dryer (ewww) when I wanted to dry my wet jacket. GET IT TOGETHER and be HONEST with people. The best part: the creepy tenant underneath (I think it was her) decided to follow me around and take pictures out of me as I moved my things out to check out early. OH, and NO ONE doing the construction wears masks, and they knocked on my door WITH NO MASK to ask for first aid-- who the hell doesn't have a first aid kit for their workers? What sort of horrible Mafia-esque construction company are you using? HORRIBLE experience. I am demanding every dime back. NEVER again with VRBO, because their staff is horrible at support and decided to tell me that construction workers outside my shower at 6:30 am was OK-- VRBO is terrible. Go to a hotel where you can complain. I should have called the police over that creepy woman taking pictures of my car-- but I'm honestly just glad to be OUT. NEVER again.
House is as advertised with a comfy queen bed, serviceable futon, and adorable decorations. TV is equipped with Roku-like features. Views are even better than advertised but bring a jacket because it gets quite windy.
