The property itself appeared nice, well located, and equipped with several advertised amenities. However, due to its mountainous location, ambient temperatures were very cold and the unit was not adequately heated for winter conditions.When we arrived, the indoor temperature was approximately 2C. Despite turning on all available heating units, the temperature never rose above about 11C. The cold made the stay extremely uncomfortable, and one member of our party chose to remain in a running vehicle rather than stay inside the unit.Although the heaters were left on overnight, the house was colder by morning, as the gas heating appeared to have shut off during the night. We were unable to troubleshoot further, but the heating system was clearly unreliable. Because of the freezing conditions, we were also unable to bathe, as the water was frigid.The situation was compounded by the owners’ stated policy that they are unavailable for support after 6:00 p.m., leaving us without assistance when the heating issues arose.While the unit itself seemed pleasant, it should not be rented during winter unless the heating situation is resolved or the unit is properly preheated prior to guest arrival, which was not done in our case. Guests should carefully consider the season before booking. Ultimately, we worked with VRBO to obtain a refund due to the conditions.
