The best area to stay in Miaogengdun is near the Miaogengdun National Forest Park entrance, particularly around the small cluster of hotels and guesthouses on Miaoshan Road.

This area serves as the primary base for exploring the park, offering direct access to the main hiking trails and visitor facilities. You'll find a selection of local eateries and souvenir shops here. It's a convenient and straightforward place to stay if your main goal is to experience the natural beauty of the forest park.

For couples seeking a tranquil retreat with easy access to nature, staying in one of the guesthouses slightly further up Miaoshan Road can be ideal. These often provide more secluded settings with views of the surrounding mountains, great for a relaxing escape after a day of hiking. Many offer traditional local cuisine as well.

For families, hotels closer to the park entrance are often preferred due to their proximity to the visitor centre and the start of less strenuous trails.

The best time to go to Miaogengdun is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.

During these months, you'll experience mild temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and visiting tea plantations. The spring brings a lush green landscape and comfortable conditions for walking, while autumn offers cooler, crisp air and often clear skies. Both seasons avoid the intense heat and humidity of summer and the colder, sometimes damp, winter months.
