Miami Springs Travel Guide

Tourist Guide
Miami Springs which includes tropical scenes, a garden and landscape views
One of Florida’s most architecturally unique cities is also home to one of the largest resort casinos in the United States as well as a great American golf club.

Miami Springs was one of Florida’s first planned communities, designed under the influence of the Pueblo Revival style of architecture. Nowadays this well-ordered city is home to an iconic golf club and a range of historical attractions, not to mention the famous Foxwood Resort Casino. Learn about the city’s unique origins, explore the grand casino, and enjoy the natural environment with a round of golf or an outdoor picnic.

As you make your way around Miami Springs, pay attention to the city’s well-known Pueblo Revival style. Inspired by Spanish Colonial and Indian Pueblo buildings, this style is typified by stuccoed walls painted in earthy tones. For one of the city’s best examples, head to the Curtiss Mansion, former residence of Miami’s founder Glenn Curtiss. Take a private tour of the home and then walk around its lush tropical gardens, lawns, and ponds.

Miami Springs is typified by a family-oriented spirit, and the city can boast several fine outdoor recreation spaces. Prince Field, for instance, is equipped with a children’s playground and three picnic pavilions. On Curtiss Parkway you will find the fetching Miami Springs Golf and Country Club, a public course that hosted the Miami Open from 1925 until 1955.

The city is also known for its numerous casinos. One of these, the famous Foxwood Resort Casino, is one of the largest resort casinos in North America.

Head to Circle Park to learn more about the region’s rich aviation history at the Miami Springs Historical Society museum. The society also runs an annual bus tour of local buildings of note that were constructed during the 1920s and 1930s: check their website for specific details. Another important cultural attraction is the Marine Corps Memorial, which is dedicated to former U.S. Marine Corps Captain Roy S. Geiger.

Miami Springs is easily navigable on foot, since the city’s main attractions are all located in close vicinity of each other. There is also a free shuttle bus that stops at various destinations in town, although it does not run on weekends.
