The Retreat is an elegant modern, carbon neutral mountain house located just 30 miles from Yosemite's El Portal/Arch rock entrance, 50 miles from the Mariposa Grove entrance and 7 miles from historic downtown Mariposa. Situated on a scenic, secluded, tree lined 6 acres, nestled between majestic mountains and valley views!!! One story modern country ranch house which serves as an amazing basecamp for a romantic getaway, family trip, or a rendezvous with friends.

The space

The property has a large living and dining area with open kitchen perfect for entertaining family and friends. The main living area contains a lovely wood burning stove and connects via two glass doors to a large outdoor deck with BBQ allowing you to socialize or practice Yoga and meditation with a spectacular view! A path extends off the side of the deck to where a seven-person hot tub resides. Carbon neutral cabin with fast Wi-Fi and board games for the perfect getaway to enjoy with family and friends!

Start a load of towels in the washing machine. Leave the remainder of the used towels on the kitchen floor.
Take out the trash to the brown metal bear shed at the top of the driveway, on your left as you are leaving the property.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

The retreat was very nice spacious and very well equipped for our stay. It took us about 1 1/4 to get to Yosemite valley and 1hour to Mariposa grove. The house was a little more remotely located than we expected. However we did enjoy the town of Mariposa 15 min away. Nice dining options and a good grocery.

Great property in fabulous location

Very spacious, comfortable property in secluded location. Perfect place to relax, with large deck, hot tub, bbq, great for star gazing. Also good for Yosemite (about an hour’s drive). Would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

Quiet Retreat

The Retreat was a nice weekend getaway for our group. The amenities like ping pong, hot tub, and board games let us all hang out and chill after a long day in Yosemite. ~15min from Mariposa to try the local shops and restaurants. The host was really responsive and answered very timely.

Nice Place

It was pleasing to stay there. We had everything we needed, the Beds were comfortable, and the yoga mat and space in the living room were a plus. Also, I had planned to bring a dog with us but we didn't if we had a dog I am sure he would have a great time too!! The only negative was a little far from Yosemite. That's all. Thanks to Peter for responding to our question quickly.

Meh….

We did not have the best experience at this property due to the cleanliness of the kitchen and the floors in the main living area. Let me point out by saying the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. Upon arrival at the house at 330, one window and small door were left opened. It was 112 outside, inside of the house was HOT at 89 degrees. The thermostat was set at 87. It took until the next day for the home to cool down to 76 degrees and there were no fans in any of the rooms. We were going to Yosemite so we planned on cooking meals at the house. The kitchen not clean. The utensil door had a large greasy food spill in the silverware. We were only left one hand towel n the kitchen and had to use our bathroom wash clothes and towels. We were made aware that the washing machine was broken, but was being replaced during our stay. When we pointed out that we had no kitchen supplies to clean up after ourselves, Peter did give us supplies, but no attempt was made to clean the kitchen or floors. Peter actually saw the greasy mess in the kitchen drawer and his response was he would give the cleaners feedback. Third day we had ants on the kitchen floor by the pantry. The floors n the living area were so dirty that the bottoms of our feet were black on the first night. We did ask for a refund on the cleaning fee since the house was not clean. Peter didn’t feel that was necessary, he blamed it on the elements and rural location. Wish I could post pix of the ants and grease.

The kitchen facilities were not fully functioning- the oven and stove in particular - and there were not many consumables (no garbage bags, no laundry detergent, etc). There also was an infestation of ants in the kitchen that got into all of our dry food. The rest of the property was fine, but the kitchen was basically unusable for our group, unfortunately. We did love the hot tub and the views from the backyard!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The pictures and accommodations were just as described and enjoyable. Our family loved the nature, outdoor games, and hot tub. We drove to Yosemite and thought the drive was easy. Mariposa is a cute little town. The nature outside was wonderful with deer and a great view. I was unaware the property was on gravel. The few things we have to critique were many of the dishes we used were dirty. The towels did not smell good. The trash bin to drop trash in at check out was disgusting and had not been picked up in a long time. There was barely room for our trash, there were maggots on the bin, and the smell was terrible.

Great house for a trip to Yosemite

Nice house in a very quiet rural neighborhood. We enjoyed grilling on the deck and soaking in the hot tub under the starlight. The house is about 10-15 minutes to the highway on gravel and paved windy roads and about 1 hour to the Yosemite south entrance.

The house is in a nice and remote area. It is great to have morning coffee on the back deck and listen to all the peacefulness of nature. Same with looking at the stars at night of the back deck. The beds are quite comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms are in very good condition. My group very much enjoyed their stay at Peter's place! Yosemite is an easy drive that can take from 45 minutes to an hour during our stay (late May)!

Great stay for a weekend!

Perfect location before getting into Yosemite. Space was open and we loved the layout of the house. The fireplace was such a sweet addition to warm up the kitchen and living room. We enjoyed the hot tub and it was the perfect place to see the moon come up from the mountain and the VIEW! We were able to see the snow top covered mountains. Everything was perfect and we were able to enjoy the property with our own privacy. The last bit of the ride to the house is unpaved dirty road but we had no issues getting there even under the rain. Parking was plenty! Thanks for bosting us!

Wonderful Stay close to Yosemite

We loved Peter’s place for our trip to the Yosemite MARIPOSA Grove area. The house was appealingly decorated and equipped with all we needed, immaculate, and beds VERY comfortable. We enjoyed the lovely views during morning coffee, reasonableDrives to the places of interest we visited all day, enjoyed family meals back at the house and stargazed in the hot tub each evening. Fenced Yard and Dog Friendly

We had an amazing stay! The fenced yard was perfect for our dog to run around and play safely, giving us peace of mind. The house was clean, well-stocked, and comfortable, with plenty of space for everyone. The location was convenient, and the host was friendly and responsive. Highly recommend this property to anyone traveling with pets. We’ll definitely be back!

Great Property!

We thought this was a very nice place! Our grouo had 2 adult couples and the layout worked very well for us. It was very clean! The views were beautiful! We didnt get to use the hot tub or corn hole boards as we just didnt take the time. We were staying there so we could visit Yosemite. It was about 50 mintues to the Arch Rock gate. We did eat in Mariposa twice and it was maybe 15 minutes to get into town. Overall, we really enjoyed this property and would go back! Thank you, Peter!!
