Makiki - Lower Punchbowl - Tantalus Holidays from NZ$2,458

We booked May 6 to 11 and May 25 to 30. The staff were great, helpful and always greeted their guests. We booked the deluxe queen room. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. There is a small closet and no dresser but there was a luggage rack where we put our suitcase on. It worked for us. The small fridge worked great and the bathroom was very clean with a small vanity for storage and there was always hot water. With the small hotel fee we paid we had the use of a washer and dryer, a coffee bar that was available from 5am to 7pm daily. The staff also put out a bowl of snacks and was constantly filled. They also supply laundry soap and dryer sheets. The housekeeping staff were great. Always friendly. They all do a great job. The location was one block from Walkiki beach. For the price this hotel was great for our needs. Carolyn, the general manager was very personable with the guest. She has a wonderful staff - Anna, Lex, Gee, Joselin, Toshi, Crystal, Maryanne - housekeeping manager and all the housekeeping staff. We would definitely return.

I could not use the gym. Gymm use was not included in this package.

Well to start, I didn’t get the 17th floor room I paid for and was “guaranteed” the day prior to check-in since it was not made ready for check-in time. I didn’t not arrive early or try to check-in early, it was after the check-in time. It was more convenient for them to put me in a 9th floor room, which is whatever, but I was a little annoyed to pay for and be guaranteed a top floor room and not get it. I was given my room key with “3” written at departure time, so I assumed I got late check-out to match my shuttle pick-up time. Property is definitely outdated. Room doors don’t have additional pad locks and being a woman traveling alone, it was a little unnerving. Kept a chair in front of the door for extra “security.” Free breakfast is fruit, toast, oatmeal, and coffee/juice, but at least it’s free. The morning of check-out, I was told the best they could do for free was a noon check-out. That didn’t explain why they wrote a “3” on my key card envelope. A little annoyed that, again, my plans had to be altered for their convenience. All in all, you get what you pay for. Not a bad stay for the price in Waikiki, but I just wish some things were honored as they were promised since I did still pay quite a bit for this vacation.

Liked location. Didnt like that partial ocean view meant leaning against the railing to see around a wall. Also didnt like that they didnt have beach chairs for guests on the beach. Had to rent them from third paety. Other hotels have dedicated chairs and umbrella area for their guests. Everything else was great. Would come back again

Great location but overall was a lot smaller than the pictures depicted.
