With strict COVID-19 precautions in effect, travel looks a little different nowadays. These are some handy things to know before you head off to Magnetic Island:

• Before committing to anything, check if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your origin and destination. Keep informed with the latest updates by checking government and travel websites.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to adjust your mask for identification purposes when asked.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it directly on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on bag. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to take it out of your bag for X-ray screening.
• Put any personal items (like your phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• If you want to take food on the plane with you, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to handle your food container or carry-on bag for closer inspection.
