Modern Guesthouse on Galloping Goose close to Sooke Potholes

"Really excellent accommodation. Clean, comfortable bed and close to everything in the area. Beautiful grounds and so quiet. All the conveniences in the full kitchen. Great for our small dog as well, nice touch with the gate at top of staircase. A great stay!"

"The good:Modern house, nicely stocked kitchen. Looked nice and very clean. Owner communicated quickly about a fuse box issue and had someone fix it. The bad: This house is right next door to a sewer treatment plant. It absolutely smells like … a sewer. Like really bad smell outside most of the time. Could not use the patio and it came in through the living room AC. Cannot open the windows which was impossible with a heat wave on without smelling literal poop all night. Could really use a second AC in the master bedroom to avoid this issue. Owner offered me to move the AC into the master bed room when I asked about the sewer smell but it looked complicated to move the AC and all of its parts fell apart when it moved (the big air hose was not in right and had to be reattached). The beds desperately need to be replaced. Completely sagging on both sides of the bed and felt like I was sleeping on a board in both rooms. Went and bought a pillow top thing at Walmart. I wish rental houses took more care to provide good decent mattresses with their rentals. I don’t want to sleep on something so worn in and so sagging to have such bad sleeps."

"Our family of 6 (kids ages 9-16) enjoyed a lovely time for a quick summer stay. We found the home very welcoming and spacious. The kitchen is bright and was equipped with a nice variety of kitchen utensils, coffee maker, dish washer and nice amount of counter space with kitchen island. The living room had inviting oversized sofas that reclined making for an excellent movie night on the large screen. All of our kids could fit on the sofa without pushing each other for space! The bedrooms had nice firm mattresses with a variety of pillows (firm/soft). The home was prepared with thoughtful details such as charging cables on each bedside table and towels set out for each member of the family. The listing allows for pets and is still very fresh. There was no animal fur nor smell. We would not have known pets were allowed aside from a few dog beds for furry guests."

"This is a five star property.First, Emma and Mark are wonderful hosts. Everything about our stay was superb, and they left us the most thoughtful local gifts.The property is nothing short of stunning. The view literally have to be seen to be believed. It looks like AI but is very much real. It's also a very comfortable house for large groups (we were a group of six), the internet is fast (I had to work on several days), and they are dog friendly which is key for us.The location is perfect for exploring the Island.There are plenty of stores in the area, and Langford has a Thrifty (very nice grocery store) and BC Liquor store.I cannot recommend this property enough; truly one of the best we've ever rented via VRBO."

"We have stayed at the "cottage" several times with and without a pet. Laura has put her heart and soul into the place and it really shows. The private backyard surrounded by a tall hedge is especially appreciated. The location on Sooke River Road is quiet at all times of the day. Easy access to the Galloping Goose Trail and the Sooke River is a bonus. Access to the town of Sooke is made easy by the existence of a traffic light where Sooke River Road meets the Sooke Highway. Book early as the cottage is very popular."
