Tree Top cabin on the Shenandoah River





Tree Top is a brand new purpose-built vacation rental that just opened in August 2017. It's near our Fish Trap and Green Castle cabins and, like them, is also river-front, sitting up high above the river with an area to walk down to the river's edge. It's part of an 18 acre "fish trap" location that was used by ancient American Indians hundreds of years ago.



Tree Top is a large beautiful property with a modern beautiful exterior and interior. Hardwood floors, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs - everything is new, luxurious and waiting for your personal enjoyment. The pictures capture some of the beauty, modern design, nature and open spaces. Take a look at those and drink it all in!



In terms of size, Tree Top can fit larger groups of 10 but would also work for a couple or small family. There are three (3) bedrooms and two (2) full bathrooms. The third bedroom is the large loft area you see in the living room pictures. There is a queen and two twin beds in that loft area. The main two bedrooms both have queen beds.

PLEASE NOTE: The optional firewood charge of $15/night is for firewood for the outdoor fire pit. (The indoor fireplace at this property is gas.) If you don't think you will use the firewood or would like to bring your own, please let us know! We are more than happy to refund that to you.



NOTE: The base rental rate includes 4 people. Additional guests are extra. Please read the itemized charges carefully and make sure to make your reservation for the correct number of guests that will be staying. Thank you!



Pet Fee: $100 per dog (max 2 dogs)- No cats, sorry!



No parties, events, or gatherings of guests that are not included in the reservation are allowed at Tree Top.



A separate security deposit is required for this property. Please feel free to ask us if you have any questions—we are happy to answer them!



Please take your trash with you. There is dumpster access at the Shenandoah River Outfitters (very close to the property). The house manager can take them for a tip of $5 per bag, if you would prefer.

Riverside Cabin

Our family enjoyed our long weekend in this cabin. The location was great -- quiet and peaceful, but not too far from town and the entrance to the park. The fire pit, hot tub, and river access made this a great base for our family. We loved that our dogs were able to enjoy this cabin with us:)

Great get away

We loved this beautiful cabin and the location! Great views and perfect access to the river. The cabin was clean and comfortable and we loved the hot tub. Only downside was all the bugs, but that's to be expected when so close to the water. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. We'd love to come back again soon! :)

Relaxing and Recharging

The Treehouse was exactly as it was described and more beautiful than the pictures. The house was very clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. The views were amazing and the area was peaceful.

We had a great weekend at Tree Top. The house was the perfect size for kid group of 6. We enjoyed the canoes and fishing off the dock. The house was well equipped and clean. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

Wonderful family getaway

We had a wonderful two night stay at Tree Top. We thoroughly enjoyed the location- set above the Shenandoah River with a great deck to view from. We saw birds ranging from Bald Eagles to hummingbirds and enjoyed listening to them. The fire pit, hot tub, and canoes were great fun. Cabin itself was clean, large windows to enjoy nature setting (even with a day of rain!) rooms were spacious and kitchen well stocked. We will definitely return!

Nice modern cabin on the river

The cabin overall was beautiful. The location was nice right on the river and easy to get to. Very nice modern home with good amenities. Only downsides we found was the beds were awfully small (definitely not queen mattresses), the hot tub was kinda dirty, and neighbors were right on top of us we felt. But none of this prevented us from having an excellent weekend there. Still recommend the place.

Our Happy Place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tree Top. We continue to come back year after year! As always, the house was clean and everything in great working order! We enjoyed beautiful days kayaking on the river and evenings out at the firepit and in the hot tub. Meal times were a breeze with everything needed in the kitchen. We will be back soon!

We spent Thanksgiving here with our adult children and our pups, and we had a great time! Lovely home, amazing river views, and quiet seclusion. Just what we needed! The house was immaculate, large kitchen that worked great for our holiday meal prep, and very comfortable seating. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing

This property is in a gorgeous, peaceful location with a spectacular view of the Shenandoah River. Sitting on the spacious balcony you can hear the river sounds and watch blue herons fly by. It’s impossible to be stressed on that balcony! The interior of the house is lovely and we found it to be immaculately clean! We’ll be back!

Enjoyable stay

Enjoyable stay! September 2023 We stayed for a long weekend. Upon arrival, we could not get the code to work for the key for the front door. The house manager saw us struggling and immediately came over to gain access for us. He was pleasant and helpful. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Everything we needed was there. We especially enjoyed linens being provided. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Beautiful weekend getaway

Booked tree top cabin as a surprise 40th for my boyfriend with some friends and was a wonderful escape for the weekend! Beautiful scenic views overlooking the Shenandoah river and loved the river access for fishing. Very roomy and well kept with great views from the main area and bedrooms. Deck could use some fresh paint, and at the time of our stay the dishwasher wasn’t working— wish the owners would have let us know ahead of time so I could’ve brought plasticware/paper goods but besides that everything else was perfect!

Beautiful quiet retreat

We had a wonderful couple of days at this cabin. Beautifully decorated and well stocked. I loved the wall to wall windows overlooking the river and mountains from every room. The fire pit, hot tub and screened in porch were located around the back of the house and very nicely arranged. A long staircase descends to the river below where you can find the canoes. Pretty private location with a neighbor to the left and woods to the right. Great place if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to get away from it all but just a short drive to downtown Luray and the caverns. We brought our dog which is a bonus and the cabin is so clean you would never know they host families with dogs.

Lovely view - great for family and dog

We enjoyed the lovely view and use of the canoes. Although we didn’t catch any fish, it was fun to see the waterfowl and turtles. The cabin was clean and welcoming. The hot tub was warm and clean. We appreciated the plentiful towels and full sized washer/dryer. As others noted, it’s a good idea to bring a flashlight to navigate from the house to the firepit/hot tub at night. Also remember to bring soap/shower wash. Luray has plenty of restaurants and stores and is only about 15 minutes away. This cabin is part of a collection of 7 other houses. The other rentals are visible to each other but Tree Top is at the end and private on one side with a great view and easy river access. If i was choosing again- this is the one I’d pick. We traveled in mid-March and had the area to ourselves for most of the week. Our dog loved it here too, the decked railing kept her safe to enjoy the sunshine with us. WiFi is provided by Star-link . It was good for work, acceptable for video calls, but did not support 4k streaming.

GREAT place to stay on the river!

Tree Top Cabin is a great place to stay on the Shenandoah River! This is our 4th time staying at Tree Top. The owners are great to work with and the house is the perfect setup for our family. The house itself was clean and inviting. We enjoyed the sitting on the deck to watch the sunrise every morning overlooking the river and evenings spent in the hot tub or around a camp fire. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed(other than food) to make all of our meals. The location is ideal for spending days on the river kayaking or fishing. Shenandoah Outfitters just up the road if you need kayak rentals. We brought our own kayaks and there are plenty of access points all along the area. Just be sure to check the river water levels as it was low the week we stayed and some drop points are better than others. The property rental also comes with 2 canoes which we used more for fishing in the evening. Our dogs especially loved their time on the river! I will say because the house sits high up the mountain bank, there are a lot of steps to get down to the river in front of the house, It may not be best with small children or elderly going up and down the steps unless you want a great workout. The river is rocky in front of the house, so definitely bring water shoes. We absolutely love the area and the house and will return again next year!

Something for Everyone

This was the perfect spot to end 2023 and ring the new year! The views were breathtaking even, this this time of year and I would love to come back every season! It was quiet at the end of the path and we had plenty of privacy. The sound of the river below was so peaceful. We found the home very clean and much roomy than expected. We loved of course the views, sitting on the deck, and walking down to the river. The screened in room down below was a nice surprise. It was so relaxing to sit in the hot tub then and then to stay warm at the fire pit and have Smores. The grill was perfect to cook our New Year's Eve filet. The kitchen was spacious and fully stocked and the large dining room table gave us plenty of room to have game nights. There were plenty of towels and having the laundry room with a place to put our outerwear worked out well. The handicap ramp and bathroom was a big help for my disabled mother. The Christmas tree was a nice touch. When we were not just enjoying hanging out at the house, we hiked trails in Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah State Park and drove along Skyline Drive, which is a must see. We visited the Luray Caverns, car museum, maze, and Luray Valley Museum and found them very interesting and worth it. We ate at the Watch and Warrant in town. The food was delicious and we had great service. Also, we went horseback riding at Fort Valley Ranch. It was on a mountain trail with the most incredible views of the valley.
