Story of Butchertown. Cozy, stylish and a great location.
This house was built in 1867, just two years after the end of the Civil War in Louisville’s original meatpacking district, Butchertown. Butchertown has a rich German history of butchers, brewers, and other notable early American professions. Today, the neighborhood is still home to many historic attractions such as the Thomas Edison House. Our Butchertown Louisville rental is in a prime location, within walking distance to waterfront park, the Lynn Family Stadium, and a 5-10min drive to NuLu, the Yum Center, Downtown Louisville, Kentucky Expo Center, and Churchill Downs. It’s also walkable to many restaurants and bars including Sergio’s World of Beers (Louisville’s original craft beer bar & store), Pizza Lupo, Chik’n & Mi, Enso (Southern inspired Japanese),Vernon Lanes (one of the oldest bowling allies in the US!), Apocalypse Brew Works, The Mellwood Tavern (Fried Chicken on Tu & Th) and many more. Butchertown Market has great shopping at Work the Metal and be sure to tour Bourbon Barrel Foods, an artisan food company known for making small batch soy sauce and other bourbon inspired food products. The Mellwood Art Center and Mellwood Antiques & Interiors is also around the corner. You can also step out the front door and bike or scooter your way to the Butchertown Greenway which takes you directly to the Ohio River, or you can walk your way to the Waterfront Botanical Gardens. There's plenty to do and see! The house is stylish well equipped. Pots, pans, a full line of Bourbon Barrel Foods products! Lush towels, great sheets, and plenty of pillows. King sized bed and a queen sized day bed at opposite end of house.

We were in town to visit our son. Matt’s space was perfect for two, clean, well equipped and walkable to restaurants, shops, tours and tastings, rambles through the city!
Very nice home in a charming neighborhood near a little park. On street parking is weird so we parked at the park parking lot. The house is great, bed is comfortable and supplies are great. Not sure what is going on at the property next door.
Terrific VRBO find! Great location In Butcher town area, very easy to get around. Well stocked house great attention to useful accessories. Newly renovated bathroom terrific shower!! Spacious dining area, comfy furniture. I love to cook & this kitchen had everything needed. Spices, garlic press, excellent pots, pans & baking Pyrex! Thanks for helping make our Christmas visit so pleasant. We baked & had all the traditional family favorites!!
This old historical row house was nicely rehabbed and kept the original charm while providing the comforts of home that we expected. It was a perfect getaway for my husband & me. It's located near the market district with lots to visit and explore, whether walking or driving. Parking is on the street and at times can be a short walk to the front door.
The owner was magnificent!! Matt answered all of our questions. The only reason I gave him a 4 out of 5 stars for communication, was not his fault. The emails sent through VRBO were not delivered in a timely fashion. We happened to leave our boots at the house. Matt had them delivered to us free of charge. Wow!! Over and beyond helpful!!
Yes, we highly recommend this gem in Butchertown!!
