The rich and unique story of the Normandy building certainly adds to the enchanting character of the structure. Constructed in the early-mid 1800s, according to legend, the Normandy was originally a brothel and saloon before it was purchased by Mike Garvey and "rebranded" as Garvey’s Hotel in 1871. In 1884 Mr. Garvey sold his hotel to T.H. Thierman, 'the whiskey man', who restored and then gave the building its present name of the Normandy Hotel.

Also, for all you Bill Murray fans out there, if you as may recognize some of the interior suites as the initial "apartment" scenes from the infamous movie 'Stripes', partially filmed inside the Normandy building back in 1981.

The Normandy Loft offers 2200 Sq. Ft. for Louisville activities and events. At the corner of N. 7th and Washington Street, you are within blocks of the Louisville Slugger Museum, The Center for the Arts, the Muhammad Ali Center, YUM Center, Kentucky International Convention Center and the Urban Bourbon Trail. You will find all the amenities of home in addition to a lengthy gallery balcony and upper deck with a vast view of the Ohio River and the Louisville cityscape.

We had a great time at the downtown Normandy loft! The space was just perfect for our group of 3 couples. The location can't be beat - we walked to many downtown locations, and others were a quick Uber ride. The kitchen was equipped for what we needed for our long weekend, and each bedroom was good sized for each couple, with the Master bedroom having a luxuriously sized ensuite bathroom. Eric was prompt, friendly, and accommodating! We will definitely remember this spot if back in Louisville!

Perfect stay

Happy with our stay in the loft. Check-in and out was easy and accommodated our time request. Location was walkable to several distilleries, restaurants, bars and entertainment. I would stay here again!

50th Birthday Celebration!

2 couples and it was perfect! Location was great and so easy to walk to everything! The roof top is great if you are looking to get sun for sure and was cool at night to see the river and skyline. Clean place and Eric was a great host. Will be back again!!

This property was perfect for 3 couples visiting to experience the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and exploring Louisville. Excellent food options near buy, easy walk to NULU and amazing views of the river! Highly recommend!

The place was fantastic. Very spacious, clean and conveniently located in downtown. Most things were a walk which was wonderful. Accommodations were excellent we would come back. Property manager was very accommodating and easy to work with on check in.

Fantastic home

The property is a perfect downtown spot that has a great view of the river, close to many restaurants and very spacious with an outdoor patio. Check in was very easy with a quick tour and owner was very responsive with any questions we had throughout our stay. Definitely plan on staying here again in the future.

A gem in Louisville

A beautiful and spacious house with a gorgeous view of the river. The host was very accommodating and went out of their way to ensure our group had access to the house and anything we needed.

Excellent Location to Visit the Louisville Distilleries

We enjoyed our stay at the VRBO. It was spacious and clean. The manager with quick to respond to questions. The location was excellent and enabled us to easily get around Louisville.

This is a great property for 3 couples. Great location Looks just like the pictures! Only suggestion would be more bath towels/washcloths(maybe newer as well, some are looking a bit worn out) and more coffee cups ( only found 4)

Weekend getaway

We took my parents for a weekend trip to Louisville and were so pleased with our stay in this awesome loft! The master bedroom was beautiful with a lounge space and huge bathroom. The property manager met us at the door and took us to the loft which was very nice! Location was near so many great restaurants and museums, which we love exploring. Very unique property and would be happy to stay again if we pass back through Louisville

Urban Bourbon and mote

Excellent location for bourbon tasting, boxing, baseball and horse racing fans. Walking distance to Ali Center, Louisville Slugger Factory, distillery, and short drive to Churchill Downs. Excellent food and drinking establishments close by. Lots of room for 6 adults to hangout. Excellent place! Host was very accessible and accommodating.

Expectations Exceeded

I attended my MBA graduation ceremony over the weekend. I had looked for a VRBO close to the Kentucky Convention Center with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms to hold my family attending with me. We were not disappointed! We were excited at the pictures of the property … it looked gorgeous and perfect for us! When we arrived on Friday we were delighted and thrilled that it was even more spacious and luxurious than the pictures denoted. High end bathrooms; High end kitchen. Multiple living room spaces. And a great downtown location to boot!!! You won’t be disappointed staying here!

Awesome Apartment - Amazing Location!

We just spent a 4-day weekend in this great apartment for a music festival. The accommodation could not have worked out better. The three couples all appreciated how the 3 bedrooms had their own space and were separated from one another. The apartment had 3 great bathrooms, comfortable beds, an awesome rooftop deck, and great living spaces. The check-in was easy, and parking was no problem. All in all fantastic lodging. The location was very centrally located, providing easy access to everything we did. Looking forward to booking again next year!
