"Our room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful view. I loved seeing the red squirrels at the bird feeders outside of our window. Breakfast was hearty and delicious, and John was very friendly and has a great sense of humor!"

"It was our first night in Scotland and what a great place to start our trip. The room was nicely decorated and comfy with the restaurant right next door. Food was great and we loved being able to walk the nearby trails and view the lake."

"What a lovely hotel in beautiful countryside. The staff in Reception were so friendly and helpful. The room was large with a lounge area and very comfortable. We used the swimming pool after check in which was super and quite warm! The dining room is lovely with wonderful views across to Loch Ard and the bar / lounge area very cosy and comfortable. There are so many walks to do around. We hope to come back and try more of them. The evening meal was overpriced. The Cumberland sausage and mash was very good though I felt I had to add more vegetables (which cost an extra£6!). My husband’s Indian starter of fried haggis and paneer was very tasty but his Chicken tikka was so disappointing as it consisted of a plain chicken breast sitting in some fairly mild tikka sauce - bearing no resemblance to the original dish with a small amount of rice and a little naan bread. "
"On smaller loch ard, near Loch Lomond, this hotel is off the beaten path. It’s beautiful and peaceful with amazing views of the water from every window. The hosts are so welcoming and we wish we would have planned to stay longer. They also saved us a lot of driving time by letting is know of a road closure that wasn’t on google maps. The food was good also but I can’t say enough about the hospitality."

"This is a beautiful property, tastefully modernised in a very tranquil setting in the forest. Our experience was not typical due to power outage for 30hrs also affecting the water supply. Some suggested I should seek a small refund but none was offered and it was not directly the owners fault so I did not pursue it although a gesture would have been kind. The main issue and disadvantage is the locked gate and forestry road access. Timber harvesting was ongoing during our stay so the road surface was rutted badly and strewn with forestry debris. Large machinery had to be moved to let us in and out although the workers were always very obliging. At one point the gate padlocks were misused by someone and we were locked in, with 5 grandkids in the car and trying to locate a key holder - you can imagine. Maybe unfortunate timing at the end of the day for us but the grandkids loved the freedom. "
