La Jolla Cottage by the Sea

Relaxing 400 square foot studio above our detached garage. Just a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean, coffee shops, bakery, yoga and restaurants in the Bird Rock neighborhood of La Jolla. Quiet and serene with private entrance. King sized pullout couch with memory foam topper sleeps 2 adults comfortably. Inflatable twin sized mattress also available.

Cycle friendly with complementary beach cruisers to explore. Beach chairs, boogie board, beach toys also provided.

Kitchenette (see amenities listed), shower, and balcony overlooking fish pond.

Small, friendly, non-shedding, quiet dogs are welcome upon request.

Great place - quiet and peaceful-perfect
We loved our time here - Mark and Marty are amazingly generous hosts - great communication and we will definitely stay here again in the future. The bikes were great to use. Good walking and short distance to the beach and amazing restaurants. Can’t thank them enough. Five stars !!

Quaint one room apartment in a quiet area. The accommodations were very comfortable and very clean. It was a perfect space for my short stay in LaJolla. The owner is very responsive to questions. I would stay again when in LaJolla.

Hidden Gem
This cottage was an amazing stay! From the utilities provided to the area begin so close to awesome spots. Felt just like home away from home! The neighborhood is very quiet, cozy, and beautiful. Especially loved the accommodations when it came to early check-in and late check-out! Huge plus in my book! Would definitely be coming back and recommending to friends.

This place has everything you need. Perfect size for a couple. Private balcony. Nice neighborhood. Safe. Close to lots of restaurants. And the bikes included were clutch. Being able to ride to different beaches

Great spot
This was a great spot in a perfect location for our brief stay in La Jolla. The bed was surprisingly comfy, the croissants at the nearby bakery were wonderful, and having bikes available to use was a huge plus. Thank you, Marty, for a great stay.

Room is above garage so you do hear the garage door opening and closing. Ideal space for one person. Only one chair so second person has to sit on bed or out on the patio (weather permitting). Kitchen is very compact but is reasonably equipped for making snacks in toaster oven. King bed was very comfortable and is actually a sofa bed but cannot be retracted because of the thick foam mattress, so is not available as a seating area.

Just what I needed
I had a conference at a resort later in the week and decided to come in a few days early for a "me-cation" and to explore the area. This cozy cottage was absolutely perfect for what I needed! It's just a few blocks from the little downtown area of Bird Rock. I could walk and get pastries and coffee in the morning and enjoy them while looking out over the cliffs at the ocean. It's an easy Uber ride to anywhere else you want to visit. I didn't get to use the bike because of the rain, but I dodged the raindrops enough to enjoy visits to the Zoo, Mission Beach, and walk the main streets of La Jolla and the Cove. Marty was incredibly sweet and helpful, even offering to grab me anything I needed from the store since I was arriving late. Just a really lovely stay all around.

Nice cottage
We needed a place to stay while our house was treated for termites. This cottage is a block away which was perfect. Marty and Mark are excellent hosts. We were able to drop our things well in advance of checkin. It has a comfy memory foam mattress, a small kitchenette (good for breakfast or lunch). Would stay here again for sure
