Owners and staff were extremely helpful, especially when using the luggage forwarding. Use of common area is perfect for buying groceries and making own food ( There is a 24 hr grocery store nearby). The rooms are beautiful, abeit the walls are thin. it does not deter from staying here and would recommend for anyone wanting the old feel with updated features. It is also conveniently close to 2 train stations. which makes transit relatively easy.
Uji Tea Inn, was a genuine experience of staying in a ryokan home. The receptionist Kassawa was very welcoming and helpful. Place was very clean. Although a little far from Kyoto centre, the area was quiet and safe.
Property owners are very nice. Showed me the entire inn. Answered all my questions. The bathrooms and beds were very clean. Kitchen was spotless. Would stay there again.
I loved that the Uni Tea Inn was in a quiet neighborhood. I loved that it was a traditional Inn. Close to train station. I would definitely stay there again.
The inn was so lovely, clean and the rooms were very comfortable. The owner was the nicest woman, and we will definitely be coming back the next time we’re in Kyoto.
We had a great stay, inn is located a bit away from the more touristy area of Uji which we enjoyed. Our room was immaculate and the host was extremely kind and welcoming. Would highly recommend.
Genuinely great stay. Uji Tea Inn is a lovely place to spend a few nights or more in Japan if you’re looking for a bit of an ‘authentic traditional’ living situation as opposed to a more western style room/hotel. The staff were lovely and the surrounding town of Uji is a wonderful humble suburban town that has just about everything you may need. I would absolutely stay here again if I were coming back to the Kyoto/Osaka area!
Amazing! We stayed in the largest room and absolutely loved it! The building and surrounding area are magical! The staff of Uji Tea Inn are amazing human beings, and we loved meeting them.
Very clean and well maintained ryokan. The owners were very polite and helpful. My Japanese is not great but communication was not an issue. I hope to visit again in the future!
This was a great stay, near a lot of great food options in Uji. The room was wonderful and the staff was lovely.
It was harder to find due to it being kind of tucked away with a lot less signage/lighting than i was expecting as the door was locked when we arrived so we were uncertain if we were in the right place.
This is a lovely place to stay if you’re visiting Kyoto. There are two stations within a 15 minute walk, so traveling anywhere is quite easy. There is a kitchen so that you can cook (or in my case, warm up my conbini breakfast), as well as laundry. The staff is very kind and helpful. I really enjoyed staying here away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto city.
Service is really good. The inn is small and cosy with unlimited tea and coffee for guests. I really like the Japanese decor in the inn. The only downside is there is no noise proofing so you will hear every noise anyone makes. If you don't intend to sleep in, then it's not an issue. Nearby is the morihan tea square, a must - experience.
Staff can speak mandarin and rented bike for us, giving directions. It has kitchen to cook fresh food we bought from a grocery store nearby.

The receptionist is very kind and patient with my questions. She let me leave my luggage ahead of checking time and even went through the checkin process and when I was back later everything was already done. The luggage was put into my room already when I was back from touring Uji. The room is super clean and comfortable. For anyone who loves to experience the traditional Japanese living style, but still enjoy the modern convenient bathroom facilities, this is a perfect choice,
We stayed here 1 night for easy access to Nintendo Museum. Check in is 4pm and our reservation was 4.30, so we were worried it'd be a bit tight. We let the host know and the team were great at getting us checked in quickly and smoothly and set up for our museum trip.
Honestly we're a bit sad we only stayed 1 night! It feels like staying in someone's house and the local neighborhood is quiet but still has restaurants and shops nearby. Walking along the canal in the morning we had a lovely chat with a local. Wish we'd stayed more than 1 night so that we could get a feel for Ogura, which is close to Kyoto and Osaka, but still feels like staying where people live. Lovely little find this!
The rooms were exactly as described. The inn was cozy and the proprietor was very kind. I will definitely be booking here again if/when I return to the Nintendo museum.
Are you kidding ? 12000 yen charged for such a small space ? I will never comeback ! I guess Kyoto is a tourism polluted place which customers like me getting overcharged
