It was a great place to rest. Bus 26 stops right in front from the train station ,and the subway station is just 2 blocks away. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Property and room were very good. We didn’t like the pillows though. They were very hard. Otherwise we enjoyed the spacious room and location.

Clean and great location. Not much space for luggage but still value for money. Should make clear that there is extra charge for towels and pillows. when booked for a family of 4 only 2 sets are provided because it was a twin room. I would rather the fee for addition towels etc is added to the total cost of the room.

Staff were lovely and helpful. The hotel itself is clean and spacious for 2 people - our room was perfect and the bathroom was nice and spacious as well.

Great Find!
Very clean comfortable hotel with a nice bright well lit spacious bathroom. Breakfast was a nice touch and service as impeccable. Great location within an easy walk to Kyoto Station, even with luggage.

We stayed at this hotel for 4nights. The size of the room and washroom was good for a family of three. The bed and pillows was comfortable. The location of the hotel is accessible to subway/metro and bus station. It's also near 7-eleven and other restaurants. The staff was helpful and accommodating.

Convenient location to metro stops, restaurants and convenience stores. Very clean and efficient space. We enjoyed the many small but detailed Japanese hotel amenities such as an air freshener spray and a full set of toiletries. The staff were incredibly friendly and courteous as well.

The check in is exactly at 3pm without exception. So at 3pm everyone that is waiting in the lobby lines up (and waits in the line) to resister. Flexibility of accessing rooms once they have been cleaned and checked would go a long way in improving their customer service.

Nice hotel in Kyoto. The facilities were all updated and the room was nice. The room was comfortable but a tiny bit crowded with 2 suitcases (typical of cities in Japan, though). One minor thing was the elevator - there is only 1 and no good access to stairs, so we had to wait a while a few times to be able to get up to the top floor. We did the breakfast a few days and there are limited options but the food was good and reasonably priced. Friendly staff with English skills. Hotel is in a good area, within a 30 minute walk to the heart of Gion and Nishiki market. Close to a few subway stops that will get you around the rest of the city.

The toilet and the shower rooms are separated. Large bathroom for a cheap price. Worth every penny. They give you a free drink voucher and they have a selection of coffee and teas. Excellent hotel. Will stay here again.

Is it just me? The hotel felt dark and stuffy. I was getting clarastrophic. I felt dizzy and couldnt breathe in the hotel. We were planning to stay for 6 nights but asked for a refund so we could move to a more open space. The best part was they were very nice and accommodating. They asked if we wanted a bigger room and ended up letting us cancel 4 nights.

Great hotel in downtown kyoto
We love the Itoya. This is our second time staying here and it’s just wonderful. The staff is so helpful and speaks English. We love renting the bikes and cruising around town.

One hotel staff in particular was very rude. The hotel itself was very strict. I had a friend who waited with us because she couldn’t check in to her hotel yet and they kept harassing us about it.

Very nice and hip small hotel with great service. Breakfast was very nice and love the lobby area. Very good customer service. You can even rent bikes for touring around and it is in a great location. Just 2 blocks from the Gojo station

Close to train / bus station. It was a bit strange to have the lobby on second floor, but other than that hotel was great. The room was a but small , but seems to be the norm in Japan

We found the area of the hotel to be 15minute walk to most places, supermarket next door, restaurants close by, staff were outstanding and able to speak good English and were able to help you get to tourist areas if using public transport.
