About this property
A Taisho period kimono factory with sea views restored to the highest standards.
Keyaki Apartment Originally the owner’s home attached to the kimono factory, our Keyaki apartment is the premium accomodation at Asobi Lodge. Finished to the highest standards, offering space and comfort, while maintaining many features of traditional Japanese architecture. The space has been completely gutted and restored, with only the ceilings, and 2nd floor floorboards of the kura remaining original. The cavernous entranceway opens into a large kitchen with seating for up to 15 people. From the kitchen there is access to the lounge (complete with double sofa bed) and master bedroom (double bed) with ensuite bathroom. Further down the hallway is found the second bathroom and entrance to the kura. The kura has two floors, with a double bed on the first floor and three single beds on the second floor.

Hamish provided a wealth of information that enabled us to make the most of our week. We were traveling with our adult son who travels internationally for business. The property suited us well. We appreciated having two bathrooms, excellent WiFi, and the well equipped kitchen. We found wonderful coffee houses during our drives around the coast. If you are there in the summer, you can enjoy the magnificent beach that is a pleasant 15 minute walk away. We appreciated the heating/cooling units in the bedrooms. After visiting a number of Japanese cities, this stay gave us a glimpse of daily life in a more remote setting.
