Convenient area for food, shopping and transportation. Private bathroom and air conditioning however cockroaches in the room.
Overall okay experience.
The location is very central. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. We got woken up early because the doors beeping and got slammed continously.
Hotel is located in Tsim Sha Tsui area ( Chung king mansion) very clean place and new decorated, most important is value for money.
Best choice. So many shopping centre near Hotel place and staff mr ali and mr Papu is very nice and helpful staff, always happy smiling face,
And wifi very strong, rooms with good design,
Well, it’s what you expect for that amount of money, but I didn’t expect the cockroaches and I didn’t expect the fuses blowing on if you use too many of the appliance, like if you had your hot water and the Aircon on the fuse would go.
But if you pay peanuts, you get what you pay for.
⚠️ 5 STARS FOR VISIBILITY ONLY - URGENT WARNING ⚠️
AVOID: "Hi-Inn" & "Hostel Venus" in Chungking Mansions, Tsim Sha Tsui in southern Kowloon, HK.
Giving 5 stars ONLY so this warning appears first. Worst accommodation experience ever.
Save your money and sanity. Hong Kong has countless better options. You've been warned.
THE SCAM:
Booked 'Hostel Venus'—upon arrival, manager demanded I take 'Hi-Inn' room instead (same operator runs both names, worse location). When questioned, rudely told my booked room was "given to someone else." Said I could get refund and find another hotel - this was late afternoon when options are limited (intentional). Later refused refund. I immediately booked elsewhere and left. Best decision made.
THE REALITY:
No matter how nice photos look, these are in Chungking Mansions - a 65-year-old (built 1961) poorly maintained complex. Reality vs photos:
Extremely dated, maze-like interior
Floors 1-2: chaotic cramped shops
Upper floors: countless tiny budget guesthouses
Nothing like the clean exterior photos shown online
ROOM CONDITIONS:
Poor cleaning standards
Overwhelming air freshener smell
Ancient, deafeningly loud A/C
Microscopic bathroom - NO separation between shower/toilet (everything floods when showering)
Windows reveal 65 years of grime on building exterior
BOTTOM LINE:
Operator runs multiple properties (Hi-Inn, Hostel Venus, likely more) using deceptive practices. Rude staff. Misleading photos. Building conditions shocking.

WORST PLACE EVER
CHECK IN - the worst of any place. I arrive the day of check in and they took my name and had me sign in - I was to spend the day with my Aunt and decided to sleep over at her place (she lives in HK) that night
The next day I arrive at 2pm to get the key to the room I was assigned and found out they gave my room away (because I did not stay that night) I was left outside with a squeaky intercom that you cannot understand Guys try standing in front of this intercom and see if you can even make out what you are saying I stood there with a bursting bladder and FINALLY they buzzed me in
After speaking to the front desk person they gave me a room in another building Hotel Skycity (it's a chain that starts with 'Hotel') and later told me that I was staying there for now until they can find another spot for me tomorrow Whaaaaat????
It is obvious they are overbooking their rooms like crazy and leave guests in the lurch Absolutely horrible practice
ROOM - approx 8X8 sq ft including the bathroom in the corner It is clean with safe and AC The bathroom/toilet/shower room is one spot on the corner of the room There's a small TV (don't care)
LOCATION - very convenient to shopping metro and food This is the only plus and that's why one star (then again you can't really do zero stars)
This is the best that you can get for a budget-type hotel in a central location like Tsim Sha Tsui in HK!

The hotel is conveniently located in Kowloon. The room is small, the private bathroom tiny. The shower head is actually mounted on the wall over the toilet. The interactions I had with the staff was pleasant. This hotel is in one of the "mansions" which means it's a multi use building. The elevators are small and you frequently had to queue up and wait for a turn to your floor (12th in the case of Venus).
My biggest aggravation had nothing to do with the hotel, it was the incessant offers for suits and fake Rolex watches, as well as occasionally hashish. You get tired of constantly having to shoo away these determined Indian chaps trying to hustle you.
