The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't deterred our lust for exploring. Here are some tips on how to cope with travel's new challenges:

• Investigate what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check before you book.
• When you pass through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be required to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Passengers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
• Instead of handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, position it directly on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag for X-ray screening.
• Empty everything from your pocket, such as your phone, keys and wallet, and put them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to handle and inspect your belongings.
