About this property
The Old Chapel, Threlkeld - bungalow with stunning mountain views
Located just off the A66 Penrith to Keswick road, The Old Chapel is minutes away from Threlkeld and has breathtaking views across open countryside to Clough Head to the front and Blencathra to the rear. The former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was built in the early 1840s, the congregation sold it in 1947 and it has since undergone renovations and extensions whilst symapthetically retaining its original character to now provide a home away from home. Being all ground floor, the spacious cottage is perfect for those who struggle with stairs. Relaxing summer days and lazy evenings enjoying a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set over the mountains can be enjoyed from the garden that is bordered by a stream. The wood burning stove keeps you warm and cosy in chillier months making the former chapel ideal for a peaceful break away at any time of year. With Keswick a 15 minute drive, Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere are less than an hours drive via St Johns in the Vale and the quieter country roads of the Eden Valley are less than half an hour drive making the Old Chapel an ideal base from which to explore everything Cumbria has to offer.
The lounge has comfy sofas around the Smart TV and wood burning stove, with access to the sun room making it an ideal space for families to enjoy evenings in front of the TV or relaxing with the latest novel. The sun room is furnished with comfy seating look out over the garden to the fells beyond. The dining kitchen is equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, dining table where family feasts can be enjoyed together and seating area with TV. There is a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The characterful master bedroom has a beamed ceiling, king size bed, patio doors leading to the garden and an en-suite shower room. There is a further double bedroom and a twin bedroom all promising a restful nights sleep. Freshen up in the family bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC.
All electric, bed linen and towels provided. Cot and highchair available. Private parking for 3 cars. Idyllic cottage garden, bordered by a stream, with an abundance of birds and wildlife including red squirrels, with seating and views across to the fells.
