We had a 3-night stay here in March with my parents. The cottage is beautifully presented, with spacious rooms and wonderful views. We had a very slight issue with one of the smoke alarms, which was attended to immediately by George. Other than that, there were no issues. The owners were very friendly and were there if we needed them. Being on a working farm, you haven't got to worry about the cows maybe making an early start to their day, or the chickens coming for a look to see what you have if you're sitting outside, or the sheep and lambs sitting on the farm track when they have acres of field to sit on, but to us it was just a good laugh and no inconvenience at all. Ideally located beside the villages of Ings (The Watermill Inn is a must) and Staveley (The Eagle and Child, Hawkshead Brewery, and very good butcher), as well as being easy to reach the rest of the Lakes. We also had a look at their one-bedroom cottage and shepherd's hut, both of which looked excellent too. Highly recommended.

A really enjoyable break. A superb cottage, just far enough away from it all to be quiet and tranquil but close enough to easily reach all amenities and entertainment.

Beautifully done up spacious cottage with lovely views , great location near Windermere.Let down only by the cleaning and housekeeping for which I believe the owners are not directly responsible but pay the company managing the holiday let. The owners were made aware and responded approprately. Would happily go back to this beautiful cottage in its peaceful setting on a working farm.

Stone Barn Farm Cottage has the most amazing rural location overlooking the Kentmere Valley, yet conveniently is only a short distance from Windermere. The cottage is very well presented and the owners, Amanda and George, go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay. It’s a short walk to the local pub which is handy after a day out exploring the fells and lakes. We felt immediately at home in the cottage and would love to return in the near future. Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage. Beautifully converted and very snug. Great views across the valley. Some very friendly chickens for the children to chase and some great walks directly from the cottage including on the surrounding farm. Incredibly friendly and helpful owners next door. They left us some fresh eggs (from the friendly chickens), a homemade cake, a bottle of wine and even some cola for the children. And very helpful on things to do locally. Perfect all round.

The finding instruction were misleading as the nearest garage mentioned is BP and not Esso. Also, the farm name is difficult to see from the road. ( we missed the turning completely). In the cottage there were no hooks in the porch to hang outdoor clothes. A tray for wet shoes or boots would also be helpful. An extra cupboard for storage of dry food would be useful. The owners were very frindly and helpful. Overall a nice place to stay.

A view to die for and the cottage itself was wholly delightful. It had the added interest of being on a working farm. The owners were friendly, helpful and informative and made us feel very welcome.

A very spacious cottage with gorgeous views. Well equiped and clean. We spent a week in each cottage on the farm, and they are both finished to an excellent standard. Helpful hosts and we appreciated on arrival wine, eggs and cake ! Peaceful location but also close to ammenities. Would recommend and happily return !

The cottage is in a lovely and convenient position for the South Lakes and beyond. Lots of walks from the door. It is clear that a lot of thought has gone in to the conversion of the barn and it is very comfortable. Amanda and George, the owners, were friendly and helpful. They immediately replaced a couple of electrical items that had become faulty. Strongly recommend this cottage.

Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. They view from the living room window is just stunning. We had a wonderful peaceful stay. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and we will definitely be returning to Gowan Bank Farm again to stay either at this cottage or the lowly Shepherds hut they have on sight 100% would recommend.

We have been staying at Stone Barn cottage once or twice a year for some time now. Never have we had anything to complain about. It has become like our second home. Amanda and George Redmayne, the delightful owners have looked after us with perfect hospitality every time. The cottage is warm, beautifully designed and equipped . The views from the windows are gorgeous in all seasons. As it is a working farm there is always something interesting going on, but it is still a quiet and restful place to enjoy a holiday. Nearby there are two excellent places to eat and drink and a well stocked garage and shop and it is only a very short drive to Staveley a village with every facility one could need. Windermere and Kendal are only a short drive either way.

We had a wonderful week at the cottage. the cottage was furnished to the highest standard and the owners Amanda & George were very friendly and helpful. I will recommend to all my friends and relatives. There was plenty to do and see around the Lakes and a week was not nearly long enough.
