The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't halted our passion for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to tackle travel's new challenges:

• Find out what, if any, rules or restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so be sure to check before you book.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to briefly lower it for ID purposes. Those who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it straight on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on bag. It must not be larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to take it out of your bag for scanning.
• Empty everything from your pocket, like your keys, phone and wallet, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• If you want to take food through the security checkpoint, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to handle your food container or carry-on bag for closer inspection.
