Host recurrently cancels day of booking and claims “plumbing issue”
We were a group of 13 due to check in at 4 pm on Friday. That morning, the host said there was a “plumbing issue” and suggested we stayed at his other property in Kirkfield. Upon Googling the address, I found “DO NOT STAY” warnings from various other people who had also fallen victim to the same scenario with pictures and reviews citing urine stains, dog feces on the floor, mold, cockroaches, etc. Based on the reviews and my own experience, he recurrently lists this property and then cancels same day leaving guests with not much choice but to stay at his other property which is nothing like the one agreed upon. At the time of booking, I didn’t see the VRBO review from June of a guy who also had the same thing happen. My advice would be to stay far away from this scammer.

Likely a scam
On day of our check in the host sent me a message saying there has been a problem with plumbing at the property and would not be able to accommodate us. The host then send me a link to a separate property that we can stay at instead of our original booking. We were left with no option but to go to this new property we had no idea about when we showed up the place was a mess there was garbage everywhere floors were dirty there was mold in the sink and on the walls. Let alone the property we originally booked was more expensive than the property we had to stay in. After going back and forth the host was only willing to refund 150 dollars when the property we got sent too was listed as 700 dollars cheaper than our original booking. I don’t not recommend anyone book with this these property owners

Very beautiful cottage
The cottage is very beautiful and the lake is very clean. The location is absolutely gorgeous however, the only problem was the cottage is not cleaned when we went there. We have to clean. There’s also no wifi connection. The host, I would say okay but not consistent, not responding when I messaged him regarding the wifi connection. Also, the police came in to our cottage asking how many of us and saying that the owner of the cottage is not registered. Their neighbour on the side were asking if we are the buyer of the cottage. We believe that they were the ones who called the police when they found out we were just renting. They’re somehow racist because maybe we are not white people compared to other people renting the other cottages nearby. We are four adult couples and one has 2 children(1 toddler and one 4 years old). Overall, we enjoyed the cottage as it is beautiful and the lake so cleaned and the view absolutely gorgeous.

our stay was relaxing and the place is gorgeous and waterfront view is very great ,the host was very good ,freindly and the place is clean ,i have 2 infants with me ,the rooms are perfect and bathroom is in good condition ,the only thing is they don't provide the towels

I want to start off with the positives the house was huge, it was beautiful, had an amazing view, and the top floor included panoramic view of the lake and property which was absolutely to die for. However upon arrival the host messaged me a code for the lockbox to get the key to enter the home, the lockbox was empty and we were able to enter through the sliding glass doors. Later when I messaged the host to inform him there was no key in the lock box he told me the code was for the door itself and not the lockbox. When we arrived at the home the pot lights were on on the garage we were in the home for about an hour and left for dinner when we returned pot lights were off and the motion sensor was not working. Also when we returned we found an empty garbage bag on the front porch which was not there before. When we tried to use the oven to cook dinner it instantly smoked out the whole house during preheating and none of the smoke detectors were sounding any alarms. I was visiting the property with five kids and one of them found a vape in a closet. As mentioned I was visiting the property with five kids come bed time I wanted to give them a bath and could not do so as all the washrooms, tubs, and showers we’re absolutely filthy the home itself does not look like it has had a deep clean or any sort of cleaning done to it in months I have over twenty photos to prove so. Not to mention there was a garbage bag full of trash left on the side of the house very disappointing.
