The Duke of Marlborough Hotel

The Duke of Marlborough Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The Room was clean and tidy, Bar excellent and restaurant good. The Canaduan Receptionist was excellent My only issue is the shower in the room, it had a fabric curtain which was clingy and extremely annoying and leaked water on to the bathroom floor. Fabric curtains are a product of the 70s and should remain there.. the hotel needs to upgrade to modern shower doors."

Frequently asked questions

What should I expect on my historical trip to Kawakawa?
A trip to the historical sites in Kawakawa is probably first on your sightseeing list. While you're in town, why not also enjoy the many sights to visit such as art?
What are the top historical places and other sights in Kawakawa?
Kawakawa is notable for landmarks like Bay Of Islands Vintage Railway. A couple of additional sights to add to your itinerary are Bay of Islands and Hundertwasser Public Toilets.
What is a historic hotel like in Kawakawa?
A historic hotel gives guests an opportunity to stay in a place that's been recognised with a national historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world come in all forms like castles, stately homes, palaces or even pubs, lodges, old police stations or skyscrapers — any place of special interest. These types of hotels in Kawakawa usually retain original characteristics such as period features or traditional architecture in guestrooms or communal spaces.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
The two are similar. "Historic hotel" is more commonly used in the U.S., while you'll often hear "heritage hotel" in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to focus on the architecture and building. A heritage hotel draws meaning mainly from the place's cultural value and how it influenced the community.
Do historic hotels in Kawakawa have modern facilities?
Yes, every effort is made to preserve treasured traditions and historic facades, while interiors have safety features and modern conveniences. Visitors should expect the popular amenities from a contemporary hotel such as private rooms with updated bathroom facilities, WiFi and more. When you book a historic hotel in Kawakawa, it doesn't mean you will stay in a place that's uncomfortable for guests or simply rundown.
