Molokai is known for its wide open spaces, unspoiled land, remote beaches, and smaller than "small town" lifestyle. In fact, you won’t even find a stoplight on Molokai. This is just one of many reasons why people are charmed by this tiny island in the sun. You’ll connect with the land and the people of Molokai instantly, as culture and history are carved into every inch of the island’s stunning landscapes.

The tiny harbor town of Kaunakakai is where locals fish for their dinner. But here on the south shore, you’ll also find a grocery store, famed Kanemitsu's Bakery, and a couple of boutiques like Kelele Bookstore and Divine Expressions. Molokai Shores is only 8.4 miles to the airport, and is a great location for taking in the local culture and planning a few adventures.

Molokai Condo

Molokai is pretty laid back and not highly developed from a tourist standpoint, which is what we were looking for. The condo, which in its pictures looked a bit dated, definitely was when we got there. So no surprise. But we were disappointed a bit by what we encountered. Several missing or not working light bulbs. A ceiling fan in the bedroom that was either on or off, the chain control for how fast is turned wasn't working. Closet and bath doors that were delaminating. The view is delightful and the lanai is nice, but the screen door to get outside is always coming off the track and seems like it is about to fall apart. And the west facing windows (nice ocean view) also mean the sun beats in the unit in the afternoon. There are curtains, but that doesn't stop the heat build up. Some kind of sun shade would be really nice. Particularly in the summer when it would be a bit warmer. There is no AC and with the only light blocked sun the living room gets very warm in the afternoon. So, while the location is nice, it needs a little work. But we enjoyed ourselves anyhow.
