"Really nice, comfortable resort. Easy beach access, nice pool. Nice (though pricey) restaurant on site.
The beach access is extremely limited because there is zero access from mid to high tide. But it's lovely during low tide. I almost always had it to myself. It is very close to other more accessible beaches.
My stay (end of Sept '25) was peaceful and the resort not overly crowded. My room was quiet and tranquil until the last night when a family with young children checked in just over me. Every step the kids took (nonstop running for 3 hours that night) shook my entire ceiling. They were also up at 7 a.m. my last morning. They were the only little kids I saw my entire stay, so clearly the place was not overrun.
Maybe kids on the ground floor would be better...?
All in all, a lovely place and I will definitely be back"
"Although this hotel isn't on the beach, it is only a 5 minute walk. Honestly, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! Check in was easy and took no longer than a minute or two. Will definitely stay again!"
"If you love historic properties (and they're not making them anymore are they--), put this one your "bucket list"-- we had a fine time....
The five minute walk to and from parking will cost you a fresh shirt each time due to humidity, AND navigating the several adjoining buildings will take you a day to master, BUT YOU WILL ADAPT. The staff very accommodating, the public areas of the facility a grand experience. I would term the rooms adequate-- bed didn.t quite match my back, shower underpowered, everything else fine. Did not use the pool but inviting. Really enjoyed the little touches provided such as late afternoon champagne on the veranda, live music evenings in the bar. Had a fantastic (albeit slightly pricey) Sunday brunch in the beautiful Grand Dining Room; also as part of the main building complex The Pantry is a place to pick up a breakfast burrito, etc. The associated Wharf Restaurant a minute stroll across the property had surprisingly good casual seafood; 80 Ocean Restaurant is at the sister property Jekyll Ocean Club, located in a modern hotel and shopping development a 5-10 minute drive away, offering a bit more elevated fare (Island Club offers a semi-hourly shuttle service); the Dunes (which appears as a meal option in the resort materials) is a basic beach snack bar-- a good little drive from the resort.. You will also note a number of very grand "gilded age cottages" adjacent to the resort-- some of them available as group accommodations or event venues. "
