"On entering the hotel you will be met by warm and inviting staff. off to the left of the reception is an insanely stocked whisky lounge but prices are on the steep side for you average dram. There is a 24 bar located en route to the rooms and an Aperol was £18!!! scandalous.
Charlies is the main restaurant and breakfast area. breakfast was good but the plates were weirdly small, slightly bigger than a side plate. the smell of the “Smokies” reeked out the lobby at the lifts and filled the corridor towards the spa.
The spa was nice, 4hrs consecutively is the max for hotel guests per day. pools, ans hot tub were nice. one sauna out of action with a smashed glass panel. one foot spa missing a plug so no couples chill out there.
Room was nice, but the air con was loud even when we had it switched off and door open. Clean and well presented, good amenities and the wife said the hair dryer was not too shabby."
"Hotel was beautiful and food was plentiful and enjoyable. Just needs more attention to housekeeping in our bedroom. Bath layer of soap grim on sides. Several trailing cobwebs from ceiling.. which spoilt an otherwise cheerful room which was a shame.."
"Pub was dated, and our room had a shower/toilet in a pod, so read the small print when booking. The pod was extremely small with little room to manoeuvre and the extractor fan did not work. Also music could be heard in our room from downstairs. The positive is the shower was warm, the staff extremely friendly and the breakfast good. Also the local clientele were warm, friendly and welcoming"
"Hotel is very pet-friendly and hence the reason for our visit. We stayed in a 1 bedroom cottage which was ideal for us and our dog. The only criticism is the food at Spike's Bar (at the golf club) was a little bit disappointing."
"The Black Bull is a lovely old building and has loads of character. Despite some reviews we found the locals really friendly and happy to talk.
Our 2 Dachshunds loved it. Especially when our young 'Fred' escaped the room and went to the dining room for breakfast,😂no complaints.
Down side, room was really hot and needs a fan. Bed was comfy and room was good size. Drinks reasonable price and staff were helpful.
Wooler was nice to walk round. Had fish and chips at local which were nice.
Barney and Fred gave it a good 🐾 up"
