"Stayed at Highland Hotel. Breakfast good, full range of food and on a par with most hotels. Rooms bit dated but clean and tidy. Pool joined on to this hotel and is excellent. Caters for all ages.We were hesitant after reading reviews on this hotel but don’t let them put you off. Not a 5* but good central base for exploring the area. "

"Our sink was clogged and staff tried to fix it, when they were unable to, our room was swapped. The facility is old and run down but everything is clean and everyone is very friendly. The area outside the hotel does not have much, only handful of restaurants and everything closes early or was booked so you couldn’t walk in to eat. Overall did the job. "

"Nice and clean place with a lake nearby. Staff was very accommodating even before we checked-in. We stayed in a room good for 3 people and it was cramped. The beds squeeked a lot too. For the price, we expected something better... but then we were just there for a couple nights, so it was ok. Perhaps the cabins would have been nicer for longer stays. "

"We checked in very late, after they closed, but they accommodated us very well. Build is old but well kept, so expect thing that come with an old building: squeaky floors, etc. Not enough bedding and the light that they have shining on the front of the hotel was shining right in our window. We innovated and overall it was a very nice stay."

"Negatives: There was an overwhelming damp/off smell when we first entered the apartment which I later discovered came from the vacuum cleaner when I used it. The bathroom light and hot water tap didn't work and the duvet for the sofa bed had a yellow stain on it. The "free kids club" is a run down cabin in which you pay £1 per game of pool (don't expect chalk). There are no plug sockets beside the bedroom mirror/dressing table. The bar area was always empty. Positives: The area is fantastic....

"Overall we enjoyed the night we spent at this rustic property. The road in to the location is a back road but was well signed. Our SatNav was a bit confused - but take your time and pay attention to the signs and you’ll be fine :) Good size room with comfy bed. The shared kitchen was a nice plus and we were able to enjoy our own wine in the general living area which was nice as well. Would definitely return. "
