"We were honored to be the first guests after Isla Azul’s reopening under new management. The hotel manager Pedro is exceptionally friendly and customer-focused. "After booking, we repeatedly messaged the hotel for directions and only got a reply at 7:55am on check-in day, telling us the only boat left Cartagena at 8:15am. No way to make it. They then sent a contact for a 9am boat costing 90k + 30k port tax, though cheaper 70k options exist. Given boats run only until 9am and transport can cost as much as two nights’ stay, this should be clearly stated before booking – we could easily have missed the first night.

"This was the BEST hotel in Baru away from the craziness of Playa Blanca. Great food(natural), friendly staff. Snorkels, paddle board and kayaks were a boon for sure. The dreamcatcher vibe was cool and they had mats, blocks and space to do our yoga."
