Remarkably elegant and extremely well-equipped, Birmingham’s most ambitious venue hosts more than 350 different events every year.

On the western side of Centenary Square sits the International Convention Centre,a sleek, modern events complex that befits the ambitions of the U.K.’s growing second city. Particularly large for a centrally located conference venue, the ICC boasts internationally renowned facilities that make it a suitable emblem for the city of Birmingham, which has an official motto of “Forward.” Attend a meeting, take in a performance or simply walk around and admire the scale and style of this unique city landmark.

Explore the ICC’s 1.7 acres (0.7 hectares) of meeting space, including 10 halls and 10 executive meeting rooms. The first event held at the ICC was an annual conference for the British Small Animal Veterinary Association in 1991. Since then, the center has moved from strength to strength, hosting high-profile events such as the G8 Summit and national party conferences for the U.K.’s major parties. More than 300,000 delegates visit each year to attend hundreds of different events.

Admire the ICC’s design, which is an elegant combination of white stone and blue glass. Visit at night to see Ron Hasleden’s enchanting neon light sculpture, Birdlife. This piece marks the entrance to the ICC with a series of neon tubes that are illuminated in constantly shifting, colorful patterns, designed to evoke the joy and freedom of music.

Walk through the Mall, the thoroughfare linking the ICC’s meeting rooms and halls, to find a variety of eating and shopping opportunities. At the Oak Kitchen, choose from a menu of iconic British meals as well as a range of drinks and sweets. Browse the collection at the Castle Fine Art Gallery, one of the oldest commercial galleries in the region.

The ICC is located not far from Birmingham’s town center and is easily accessible by public transport. Check the ICC homepage for events and booking information. The ICC is close to a number of other attractions, including the magnificent Library of Birmingham and the Birmingham Town Hall.
