Sure, I’m vaguely familiar with the meditation and enlightenment aspect of it but that has been the limits of my knowledge. At the core of Buddhism are The four Noble Truths, the first of which being that in life there is suffering. However the teachings guides you through the reasons for suffering and how to end suffering. One major cause to human suffering is our desire, craving such things as material goods and then leading to our attachment to them. With this identified one can choose to crave less and understand that the only thing permanent in life is impermanence. All that we have now will not last forever so why get attached to them when they will only cause us suffering when they are gone. I’m not talking on a superficial level that is only thought about in times of crisis but on a day to day basis. . Looking at this monk walking on the beach at the crack of dawn in only a robe and without shoes, I get it now.
