Hotel is ok for the island, not much available for Hilo so we booked there. But it was a terrible experience for me and my family! I had to call over and over for housekeeping! They lost my rental keys & they double booked my room & strangers walked into my room while I was half naked. Very unprofessional. Their elevators is all broken! They didn’t warn any customers upon arrival that it was an on going issue for 3 weeks! I had these issues and staff was aware, they could’ve done a better job of taking care of accommodations.

We stayed in a clean 1 bedroom suite with an amazing sea view! The rooms cooled down once the windows and doors were open and the fans were blowing. Keep in mind that the check-in process isn't typical. If you want A/C for your room or have any needs for on-site staff, you must check-in before the office closes at 5pm. (If you arrive after 5, you will get your room key using a lock box and won't have the option for A/C if that is important to you.) The property is well maintained and a few minutes drive to Punalu'u (Black Sands) Beach. It was a 36 minute drive to the ticket gate of Volcanoes Nat'l Park.

There was bugs in the room and bed , changed to another room bugs again. review said there are fresh muffins and bread in the morning, there was nothing , the wifi was terrible, tv did not work , no coffee. it was the worst experience. also, no Air conditioning

Great place, great shops, nice rooms, but the beach is the best! Better than Hapuna, which is rated #1.

The Fairmont is likely as good of a “Resort” property as one could find. I am not a fan of Resorts, But when in Hawaii it is difficult to not stay in one. Fairmont is well presented, certainly not a value proposition, but nicely done. Good food, Bars, Pool, etc. shower in the bathtub was far better than the separate shower. Facility does need some paint and refreshing. Grounds and Location are beautiful. I like Fairmont Hotels and they are a brand I seek out, when traveling.
