Heated Pool, Private Tennis/Pickleball Court, Private Dock on Satilla River

10/10 Excellent
"This place is a hidden gem. Luxurious? Not really. Is it updated? Nope. Its just a well kept mid century ranch with a ton of space for a large family to enjoy each other's company. Beds were comfortable. The pool was our favorite amenity. The riverfront lot provided nice views and really incredible sunsets. Tennis/pickleball court was a nice addition. There is a golf cart in the garage that worked sometimes - it wasn't part of the description so we just considered it a bonus when it decided to run. We dealt with Joel who was sincerely the best VRBO host we've ever encountered. When we realized he lived next door (it's a good distance away) we were a bit concerned he'd be overly present. He wasn't and, honestly, we'd had been fine with it if he had been - just clearly a decent guy. Lot's of unique history on this property and in this area. We had planned to take three day trips during our stay but ended up only doing one of them because the group enjoyed the property so much.Couple of things: 1) The pond's dam gave way at some point and is now more like a tidal pool. Not fishable at all. Plenty of fishing opportunities on the river but, technically, river fishing requires a license - the pond wouldn't have; 2) The property is large and secluded. I'm guessing 15-20 acres. Its nice. & 3) The tap is well water. It is treated. Didn't really bother us, but if you aren't used to well water, bring bottled water.100% recommended. Would return without hesitation."

Railroad Retreat by the Lake

Railroad Retreat by the Lake

10/10 Excellent
"We were absolutely delighted with our stay. The cottage was clean and stocked with all the kitchen and bath stuff we could possibly need. The cottage decor is very homey and comfortable as can be. The grounds are gorgeous. The lake and dock are the highlight of the property and they also have turkeys, ducks, chickens and rabbits. We're nature lovers and felt right at home. We did not hardly see the Raulersons and we had our privacy to the degree that we never even met them, although I would have liked to. If we are in the area again we plan to return. Thank you, Raulersons, for everything."
