Located in an Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB), this special and undiscovered retreat will not disappoint at any time of year.

50 metres away from walks along the East Allen river where you can watch salmon leap in the autumn. Five minutes drive from Allendale village and fifteen minutes from the market town of Hexham. The Roman Wall and the Lead mining Industrial areas are close by. If you enjoy walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, visiting gardens, museums, historic houses or just relaxing in the garden or wildflower field, you will find it all in this beautiful area.

This really is a cottage for all seasons, fully equipped for all weathers. Ideal for singles, couples or a family. What’s on the doorstep?
Our gardens with indoor and outdoor furniture and barbecue to relax in.

Developed over many years, the garden is our secret retreat. A comfy sofa means that the summerhouse can be used on rainy or sunny days. There is ample patio seating, outdoor furniture and gas barbecue for lazy days.

The half acre field directly opposite the cottage is designed in two parts. The front part is a wildflower garden. The field area behind is for playing games. There are croquet and badminton sets available.

Sports field and tennis behind the cottage.

Across the road this 'green' development site, preserves the lead mining industry heritage of the Allen Valleys. Smelt Mill treats including Curry House, Allendale, Micro Brewery General Store with bread and supplies and Coffee and Kuriosities.

Follow history by following the lead mining flues up to the chimneys on top of the moors.

Walk along the riverbanks to Allendale. Here you will find a lively place with well stocked independent Coop, local Butcher, Post Office, Chemist, Beauty Salon, several pubs and the Forge Art studios and Café that runs exhibitions and sells local arts and crafts, and a wonderful classic Sci Fi Museum with dalek!

From the door you can enjoy delightful walks along the river Allen - 200 acres of hill and river wooded scenery. There are well-marked paths through the dales and to the top of the Pennines. Pick up Isaac's Tea trail from the riverside. History lovers will enjoy the proximity of lead mining and all things Roman including the World Heritage Roman Wall site.
