Positives: Beautiful views from large deck. Netflix and good internet connection. Efficient wood burner. Negatives: I had to clean the work surfaces and door fronts in the kitchen before they could be used. Our stay was also dominated by an unpleasant smell which varied in intensity but was ever present. It was particularly focused in the bathroom although the smell pervaded the entire house and could also be discerned outside. I had noticed one earlier review mentioning a similar problem but this has now been removed. I communicated the problem to the owner on arrival and gave her an update before we left - we had nowhere else to go and so were forced to stay. She assured me that she intended to do something about it but I have not had any feedback since we left on Saturday 16 September. Mention should also have been made of the road running immediately below the property and the fact that there is a flight of steps up to the house which the less healthy might find a bit of a nuisance.

Thanks for your review. You made no mention of the fact the house wasn't clean and you had to clean the surfaces. If this was the case and you had mentioned it, I would have addressed this immediately. I pride myself on my cleanliness. As for the smell, there is no smell at the property. Both cleaners and their husband's inspected the property before i arrived in case i needed to call a tradesman. None of them could find an issue. I drove down there the day you left and thoroughly investigated the house, drains, and outside. No smell to be detected at all. Everyone who has stayed since, including the day you left has given a five star rating..No issues at all. You say you would have left but couldn't get alternative accommodation. There was plenty of accommodation available locally during your three day stay as it is very quite down there at the moment. ( I checked this).

Marlborough Sounds Getaway
The view from the property is awesome and the large deck provides a comfortable perch to relax and unwind. The house was clean and ready for guests. Kayaks available, but not very easy for 60+ yrs to carry across the street, through trees to the water

We loved our stay here, weather didn't work to our favour but was still an amazing trip away. Everything was well thought out and we weren't missing a thing. Loved that kayaks were available use. Will definitely book again.

Stunning view but has potential for improvement on the ambience
Our best experience is the amazing view. We arrived late afternoon, it was obvious the house needed airing after the previous guests. The laundered towels could be hung elsewhere to dry not in the living room, it was not the welcome we wanted to see. Make sure you take milk especially as it is a windy 10 mins drive back to Havelock for milk. Lucky for us, we asked the helpful gallery owner we saw who helped us with where the nearest place to get milk and food from. Ideal place for a family or if you love kayaking. Communication with the owner was great.

Amazing retreat
Sandra was a really welcoming host. This property had everything we needed for a family of 5. A portacot was available on site. Pleanty of sunshine, the house was very warm. The kayaks were a huge bonus for the kids and the tracks right across the road were a great adventure. The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The house has water views with a beautiful large deck. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

A week in the Sounds
We were after a relaxed getaway that was secluded but close enough to some of the local attractions. This location was perfect for that . The views from the house were spectacular and the house was perfectly set up for a good getaway in a beautiful location. It’s a bit of windy drive to Picton and Havelock but other than that it was a lovely getaway

A lovely new build, in a very convenient spot. Communication was very good, and nothing was a problem. The property wasn’t left well cleaned by the previous visitors, and there were a couple of essential utensils missing- eg a spatula. But overall, a lovely stay- thanks very much!

Beautiful modern house with amazing views from all of the rooms and in an ideal location, only a short drive to Havelock and Picton. Sandra was great to deal with, very quick at replying to our emails and very accommodating. Thank you - we will definitely be back one day!

My family stayed here on our way camping for a week, it was the perfect place. So clean and tidy, with a great location. My girls said these were the most comfortable beds they had ever slept in. Great communication from the owner, highly recommended.

Stunning, peaceful and well set up
From the fresh sparkling white linen on the really comfortable bed to the magnificent view, this was a great bach to stay in. Crossing with small children from Wellington on our way to Christchurch for Christmas, it was so nice to arrive here and just relax in your beautiful home before heading south. Dinner at the Mussell Pot, not far down the road when driving, was an added bonus.

A lovely and clean property, perfect for a long weekend away.
Sandra was a great host and responsed to my queries immediately. The property is a great size with a large deck, great for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the sun. The bbq was a bonus! Beds were so comfy my friend has decided to buy a new mattress. We all slept very well all 3 nights. Would definitely recommend and be happy to stay again. Thanks Sandra!
